Planner I/II

Planner I & II are in the professional planning series. They perform a variety of well-defined professional planning duties including, but not limited to land use, issuance of zoning authorization for building permits, GIS zoning maps, and subdivisions.


Planner I is an entry level planning position that is responsible for assisting Senior Planners in analysis, drafting and developing a variety of policies and procedures related to County Planning and Development.

Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Urban or Regional Planning or closely related field required.

Minimum of one year of professional experience in Urban or Regional Planning preferred.


Planner II is a journey level planning position responsible for performing a variety of complex specialized professional planning duties. They must have the ability to work independently, knowledge of zoning, land use, and subdivision regulations.

Master’s Degree from an accredited college of university in Urban or Regional Planning can substitute for two years of professional experience.

Planner III

County Planner
Huerfano County
Notice is hereby given that Huerfano County is accepting applications for a County Planner. This is a full-time position at 35 hours a week; the position qualifies for County offered benefits. The starting salary is $45,000 to $60,000. depending on qualifications, this is a non-exempt position. The County Planner manages, coordinates, and supervises all aspects of the Land Use Office regarding application and enforcement of zoning and subdivision regulations, medical marijuana licensing and other land uses within the County to ensure the prompt and efficient operation of the office. Prepares all Land Use applications for review by Planning Commission. Schedules Planning Commission meetings and records all proceedings. Works with the County Administrator, County Attorney, Board of County Commissioners and the Planning Commission to establish regulations and policies to promote the health, safety, welfare, quality of life and protection of land values for the citizens and properties within unincorporated Huerfano County. Develops long-range land use goals, generates and implements policies and regulations to obtain those goals through communication with residents, officials and agencies, administration, and enforcement of policies and regulations for the betterment of Huerfano County.

Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Business Administration or Public Administration, or closely related field from an accredited college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience; or equivalent related experience or training 2 to 6 years. Preferred experience in plan review, zoning administration, surveying and development consultancy.

The County Planner will be under the direction of the County Administrator.

The North Front Range Metropolitan Planning Organization (NFRMPO) located in beautiful Fort Collins, Colorado is seeking a goal oriented, persistent and a punctual self-starter for their Mobility Manager position. Chaffee County Colorado is seeking applications for a full-time Land Use Planner. This position perorms a variety of planning functions for the Planning and Zoning Division including assisting the Director, Planning Manager, and the Planning Commission in review of applications and land use code adminstration. This position interacts with the public to answer questions relating to land use and development applications, zoning designations, the Chaffee County Land Use Code and Comprehensive Plan. This position also researchs and processes data concerning studies, and presents results to official boards and the general public.

This position performs technical and customer service duties in support of land use planning activities of the Planning and Zoning Division for Chaffee County Colorado. These duties may include: developing public hearing notices for the planning commission and Board of County Commissioners, collects and records fees for applications, provides information and documentation to the public, assists in the prepartion of reports and meeting minutes, answers phone calls, maintains departmental calendars, maintains chronological listing of data for land use applications and public hearings, etc. This is a full-time position with occasional night meetings.
