Applications are now open for FoodCorps Service Members! If you enjoy teaching, planning, and executing programs with youth as well as policy, systems and environment change in our community, then this is for you!
As a FoodCorps service member you collaborate with schools, food service staff, and farmers to help students: (1) learn why healthy food matters, (2) grow, cook, and try new things, (3) Eat healthy food every day, and (4) build a foundation for a bright future.

EFNEP Program Assistant - Black Hawk County
Iowa State University Extension and Outreach
Under general supervision, position assists in conducting Extension education programs by providing information to families on limited income. This position organizes special program groups; and assists with planning, directing, and coordinating educational programs to specifically identified audiences. Topics shared include meal planning, food budgeting and ways to increase physical activity and improve nutrition.
Main duties include preparing, presenting, and adapting lessons from a standardized curriculum to individuals or small groups in a variety of teaching modes (including virtual platforms) to suit participant needs and skill levels.
Salary is $15.52/hour and the position will begin taking applications after September 6th.

Iowa State University Extension and Outreach in Black Hawk County is looking to hire two AmeriCorps 4-H service members. We are accepting applications for 1 Full Time (1700 hours) and 1 Half time (900 hours) service member. Benefits include:
- Living Allowance, Full time is $14,279 and Half time is $7,560

AmeriCorps Food Coordinator

We are seeking an AmeriCorps service member position to start in September 2021. AmeriCorps member will provide 35-40 hours per week of service over 36 weeks to support Oakridge Neighborhood’s efforts to increase access to healthy and fresh foods in our community. You must be 18 years of age, have a high school diploma or equivalent or be in the middle of completion, and a citizen or lawful permanent resident of the United States to be considered for AmeriCorps service.

Join the Buy. Eat. Live Healthy team at Polk County Extension and Outreach! This bilingual educator will teach our Buy. Eat. Live Healthy nutrition program in Polk County. This position is for 30 hours/week at $15.52/hour and include full benefits from Iowa State University!
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of nutrition
Experience with meal planning and food preparation
Experience delivering information one-to-one or in small groups in person or virtually
Experience with Extension programs
Knowledge of local community agencies and resources that help families and individuals in need
Experience with recruiting clients and/or sales
Demonstrated experience of successful engagement with populations who are low income.
Experience working in and with diverse communities, especially with BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color).
Bilingual English/Spanish, including the ability to read, write, speak, and understand Spanish.
