This position will be responsible for leading, supervising, developing, and executing on a comprehensive communication strategy, annual work plan, and performing public relations functions for the Hydrogen Properties for Energy Research (HYPER) laboratory. This includes writing, editing, and coordinating the following types of communications: news releases, annual reports, special reports, proposals, website content, social media, brochures, magazine editorials, peer-reviewed journal publications, and other materials. These tasks will often be completed in collaboration with faculty, staff, and students. The role will include additional communications and organizing of laboratory symposia, visitors, and developing / maintaining databases of media and contacts in support of WSU's LandGrant mission of research, education, and service.

The person we are seeking will conduct research on one or more of the following aspects: pretreatment of cellulosic biomass, enzymatic or chemical hydrolysis of the pretreated materials to release sugars and lignin for biofuels, and bioproducts production. Experimental work will be conducted in our well-equipped laboratories at the Bioproducts, Sciences & Engineering Laboratory, Washington State University of Tri-Cities, Richland, WA. In addition, this person will be expected to apply HPLC, IC, GCMS, NMR, and other analytical equipment to characterize biomass raw materials and the various solid and liquid fractions produced. Kinetic, transport, and statistical modeling will be employed to understand the operations, and new technologies will be devised to overcome obstacles and lower costs.
