Planning & Community Development Specialist
Town of Southern Pines This is a new position in the Planning Division of the Community Development Department that will support the Town in its efforts to collaborate with neighborhood residents, with special attention to community development priority areas such as the West Southern Pines community. A primary focus of the position is proactively addressing the needs of lower-income residents by pursuing funding opportunities, managing community development programing, and building the capacity of local organizations. The position has a highly visible presence in Southern Pines neighborhoods and serves as a liaison between neighborhoods and other local government departments. In addition to and in conjunction with the community development-related duties, a portion of the position is devoted to supporting the town’s long-range planning goals. A strong interest in community outreach, relationship-building and long-range planning is an essential requirement for this position, as well as considerable tact and courtesy in frequent contact with citizens, contractors, and developers in addition to other municipal, state, and federal officials.

Workforce Housing Planner
New Hanover County This associate-level position will primarily be responsible for developing and administering housing policy and programs. This position is the staff liaison for the joint City of Wilmington/New Hanover County Workforce Housing Advisory Committee, which has recently completed a comprehensive housing study and work plan that will be implemented over the coming five years. Immediate projects include efforts to audit and update development regulations that serve as barriers to affordable housing, to determine methods to incentivize workforce housing development, and to prepare educational materials related to a potential 2022 housing bond.

Town of Indian Trail JOB SUMMARY:
The Planner position is a dynamic position working in both short and long-range planning. The Planner will work independently or in coordination with the Senior Planner in the management of major development related projects. The Planner will be instrumental in assisting in the implementation of the Indian Trail Comprehensive Plan and assisting with major updates to the Unified Development Ordinance and Zoning Map. The Planner will also review conventional land development projects such as site plans, subdivisions and similar projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
