Forestry Intern
City of Cheyenne Urban Forestry
This is a non-benefited, temporary position with up to a 40-hour work week. This position will: assist with forestry education and outreach to citizens and the green industry to further best practices in urban forestry and promote Rooted in Cheyenne (neighborhood tree planting program) to homeowners and prospective sponsors and volunteers to build support and capacity for the program.
Provide outreach to citizens and the green industry related to forestry best practices. Distribute Urban Forestry educational resources and direct constituents to additional resources if needed. Assist with developing educational resources in response to the demand from the public.
Provide Emerald Ash Borer outreach and education. Evaluate ash trees on public and private property and recommend management strategies. Utilize Tree Plotter (tree inventory system) to record ash tree evaluations and develop reports/maps to quantify ash populations.
Answer tree related questions from the public. Maintain and update websites and social media sites. Develop videos with staff to highlight proper tree maintenance. Provide articles/press releases for internal and external media. Develop and maintain a list of green industry companies and coordinate outreach, correspondence and educational opportunities.
Assist with coordination of the Rooted in Cheyenne neighborhood tree planting program. Identify partnerships and sponsors to support the program. Assist with marketing/promoting the program and evaluate effectiveness. Monitor website/Facebook page and add/delete content. Help coordinate meetings, media events, planting events and direct volunteers to assist. Maintain participant lists, volunteer lists and tree planting locations and ensure records are current and accurate. Utilize Tree Plotter to evaluate trees planted through the program.

Forestry Technician II

of Forestry Technician II in our Parks Department.
The successful applicant will work with a group of Park professionals in a beautiful community,
nestled in the foothills of Jefferson County. We are looking for that individual who has a passion
for the care of trees, who will be an integral participant in the maintenance of our Park trees
and who will assist in planning the direction the Forestry Division takes going forward.
The Forestry Technician II applicant must have experience with the safe operation of bucket
trucks used in tree maintenance and in climbing techniques using ropes and saddle. The
Forestry Technician II should have experience identifying disease and insects harmful to trees
and knowledge of ‘Best Practice’ in the in care and treatment. This applicant must also have

Urban Forestry Arborist II

The second level of the Urban Forestry Series is responsible for performing specialized functions such as evaluating the condition of trees, make recommendations for the tree care, and provide the services needed such as pruning, fertilization, and insect and disease control and to perform related work as required.

The Urban Forest Arborist II would be distinguished from the Urban Forest Arborist Lead in that the position is responsible for performing complex duties requiring specialized knowledge in Arboriculture but does not organize or prioritize workload or review the work of other technicians.
