COVID-19 Outreach & Organizing Paid Summer Fellowship Opportunity
Planned Parenthood Action Fund of New Jersey
*This is a community-based program for young adults, to gain leadership, outreach, and organizing skills in communities of color, which historically face barriers to health care due to systemic racism and institutional inequality. The Summer Fellows will develop programs to deliver medically accurate information about the COVID-19 pandemic to increase access to care and reduce vaccine hesitancy. 14-week paid summer leadership program and fellows will receive $15 an hour for 20 hours per week, a computer, and a travel and phone stipend. The program will begin in July 2021.
Experience Requested:
Experience living or working in Atlantic, Gloucester, Burlington, Camden, Mercer, Bergen, Union, Middlesex, Essex, Passaic (PPAFNJ is prioritizing hiring fellows to working in these counties, but even if you don’t have experience in these counties we still encourage you to apply.)
• Ability to use stories to explain why you care about increasing access to the COVID vaccine and why you are organizing this campaign with Planned Parenthood
• Successful experience recruiting new members to an organization or volunteer project
• Strong commitment to meeting deadlines and showing progress towards goals
• Curiosity around new ways of organizing, using data, and building infrastructure for a long-term movement
• Ability to travel across the state in the counties listed above (We will discuss mileage reimbursement, bus, and train stipends during the interview process to help support the fellows’ ability to travel for this summer program.)
