Adult Programming Librarian

Responsibilities Plans, develops, implements, and evaluates appropriate programs to reflect interests and needs of the community; Plans, develops, implements, and evaluates appropriate outreach opportunities to reflect interests and needs of the community; attends community events, and visits civic groups, schools, and other sites to promote library information and resources; Plans, develops and implements appropriate displays of materials to reflect interests/events and/or special events; Evaluates and selects new materials for purchase through review of professional journals, publisher catalogs, evaluation of patron suggestions; Evaluates and selects materials to be withdrawn from circulation through analysis of usage and value based on currency of material and physical condition. Develops rules and procedures for library usage; recommends operational improvements for efficient work practices. Receives researches and responds to requests for information, directs patrons to appropriate sources/areas and/or provides one-on-one assistance to locate specific requested book(s)/material(s). Maintains required section records, files and statistics of operational activities; Takes requests and borrows requested materials from other library systems. Reviews and revises section catalogue of materials; Provides assistance and instruction to patrons on use of tools to locate information. Completes circulation tasks as needed; Provides training, one-on-one assistance and workshops for the public and staff in using technology and online library resources; Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited program required; experience in public library a plus.
