Clinical Informatics Fellow
Waco Family Medicine
From Kelly Nieves, current CI Fellow:

“When I think about what our CI fellowship program is about, my mind always returns to two guiding principles that Dr. Gill, our program director, often reminds us of:

1. Make it easy for staff to do the RIGHT thing.
2. Get people home to their families for dinner!

The right thing at Waco Family Medicine is taking great care of patients by providing high quality care that is compassionate and wholistic. During implementation of any informatics project, I am challenged to think about how it will help our team take great care of patients and each other. Here are some examples of projects I have worked on as a first-year fellow:

• Maintaining evidence based clinical content and decision support tools to guide the latest prevention, testing, and treatment guidelines for COVID-19
• Data analytics for organization wide quality improvement projects like addressing racial and ethnic disparities in cancer screening and blood pressure control
• Working with our Patient & Family Advisory Committee (PFAC) to optimize equitable access and usability of our patient portal
• Training clinicians how to be efficient and proficient users of the EHR as a tool for providing excellent care to patients and finding work-life balance

I would love to tell you more about Waco Family Medicine and Clinical Informatics. Thank you so much for your interest!”
