What You'll Be Doing:
Managing highway bridge and other structural design projects Directing and mentoring junior engineers and technicians Building and maintaining strong client relationships Negotiating agreements including scope, budget, schedule, and fee Maintaining schedules and budgets to ensure contractual obligations Checking calculations and/or directing the design procedures of others to ensure that calculations are performed in accordance with AASHTO design standards or other requirements
What You Bring to the Table:
BS degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s degree a plus) New York State PE required 8+ years of experience working in the bridge design profession Experience working in a team environment providing technical direction to a design team on highway bridge projects (NYSDOT and / or LAFA Project experience preferred)

GPI seeks a bridge engineer familiar with the design of bridges for NYSDOT, NYSTA, County, and/or other transportation agencies to join our team in the Albany, NY office. What You'll Be Doing:
Planning, scheduling, conducting, and/ or coordinating detailed designs for rehabilitation or replacement bridge and bridge-culvert projects Data collection such as performing structural inspections Analyzing survey reports, maps, drawings, aerial photography, and other topographical or geologic data to plan project work Preparing and/or reviewing civil/structural calculations, drawings, construction specifications, development of engineering documents, development of construction cost estimates, and coordinating with interdisciplinary design teams Perform other related duties as assigned
What You Bring to the Table:
B.S. in civil engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited engineering program 5-10 years experience in structural bridge design (additional experience will be considered), with a NY PE or ability to obtain Knowledge of structural design principles for steel, reinforced concrete, and prestressed concrete for transportation structures (bridges and retaining walls) Proficiency in MicroStation Experience in MATHCAD, STAAD, and InRoads/Open Roads is preferred Familiarity with AASHTO LRFD design specifications, NYS standard specifications, NYS Highway Design Manual or NYS Bridge Design Manual. Knowledge of the NYSDOT Locally Administered Federal Aid Project process for highway and bridge projects is preferred.

Conduct work sessions for design development and contract documents in conjunction with staff from other technical disciplines. Coordinate workload throughout the entire project development, and ensure completion of deliverables on schedule. Track and manage project budgets. Mentor staff. Experience in leading routine bridge inspections for state and local agencies is a plus. Experience in managing and reviewing load rating computations for structures owned by state and local agencies is a plus.
