Requires a PhD, DrPH or ScD in Biostatistics or Statistics.

The Algorithm-Based Clinical Decision Support (ABCDS) Oversight is a “people-process-technology” framework for the governance and evaluation of clinical algorithms created for use at Duke Health. This framework fosters safe, equitable, innovative, and high-quality patient care by introducing checkpoints throughout the development lifecycle as well as after deployment to ensure that transparency, quality, and ownership are maintained for ABCDS algorithms and tools. The ABCDS Oversight is a collaborative effort between the Duke University School of Medicine and the Duke University Health System (DUHS) and is a key quality initiative.
The ABCDS Evaluation Leader will work with teams of Researchers and Scientists and provide training, consulting, applications support, and development, including some supervisory and leadership responsibilities.
The ABCDS Evaluation Leader is an integral part of ABCDS Oversight’s operations team and responsible for implementing ABCDS Oversight’s mission. This role will serve as an evaluation and quality subject-matter expert for AI Health strategic initiatives, as well as supports the design of the ABCDS Oversight framework.

Health Data Analytics Institute (HDAI) is looking to hire an intern for the summer to work on the development of advanced machine learning models built on millions upon millions of patient records with the goal of predicting patient health outcomes. This position would be ideal for a graduate student who has the experience/qualifications listed below and wishes to gain practical experience in private industry.
HDAI is an entrepreneurial company developing and commercializing proprietary quantitative solutions to capture, integrate and interpret healthcare data to improve decisions and outcomes. We specialize in transforming this data into actionable information for clients across a broad array of industries and applications.
Desired Qualifications: Current graduate student in the health data sciences field. Experience with machine learning algorithms, and predictive modeling tools such such as gradient boosting, Random Forests, logistic regression, LASSO/elastic net regularization. Strong knowledge of R is desirable, and exposure to python and/or SAS would be helpful (but is not necessary). Familiarity with electronic health records would also be helpful, but isn't strictly necessary.
