ABOUT USFCS
USF provides competitive salaries to live in the SF Bay Area and has excellent support for new faculty, such as multiple teaching assistants for your classes, an internal research funding mechanism, and focused fully-funded writing retreats. USF was listed as a Tier One National University in the 2021 U.S. News & World Report, was ranked 4th in student diversity, and was among best colleges for veterans. Computer Science is also listed as one of the strong programs at USF in the 2021 Fiske Guide to Colleges.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) is a core value of the department and of the university; USF is one of the most diverse universities in the US. The department has several active initiatives to broaden participation in computer science. This includes programs to send students to the Tapia and Grace Hopper conferences, provide scholarships and research opportunities for women, non-binary, and low-income students, and a CS-specific peer tutoring center.

The University of San Francisco is entering into the second year of a faculty diversity hiring initiative. During the first year, 70% of new full-time faculty hires were Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPoC), compared to 36% of our current full-time faculty. Junior BIPoC faculty are invited to participate in a supportive cohort, and receive mentoring, community building and peer to peer opportunities coordinated by the Vice Provost for Equity, Inclusion and Faculty Excellence. Faculty also enjoy peer support through affinity groups such as the Asian and Asian American Staff/Faculty Council, Black Community Council, LGBTQ Caucus and La Colectiva of Latinx Staff and Faculty.
