The School of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management (HRTM) at New Mexico State University is recruiting an Assistant Professor with academic and industry experience in tourism, sustainability, meetings and events, hospitality law, or hospitality and tourism operations. This is a 9-month, tenure track position. Candidates should have the industry knowledge and expertise to teach courses in areas such as Tourism, Hospitality Management, Sustainability, or Meetings Conventions and Special Events. The faculty member will contribute to enhancing the School’s national and international reputation for its undergraduate and graduate programs. Excellence in teaching is required, and includes mentoring of both undergraduate and graduate students, and assisting with department recruiting and retention efforts. The faculty member will be instrumental in establishing core courses for the Online Master degree program. An earned doctorate (awarded by hire date) in Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism Management or a related field. At least one degree should be in the tourism and hospitality field.

Assistant Professor of Lodging

Teach up to 9 credit hours of undergraduate courses in each of the fall and spring semesters; possible opportunity to teach in summer and winter for additional income. Typically, this will entail teaching in lodging management courses.
• Enhance the HRM program by working closely with industry, inviting industry practitioners as guest speakers to classes, and engaging in community outreach.
• The successful applicant will be able to teach a wide range of HRM courses, with particular interest or ability to teach Lodging Operations, and also prefer experience in one of the following NAU Franke College of Business vertical areas including; Risk Management (within
the context of hospitality), Hospitality to Healthcare (H2H), or Supply Chain Management.
• Demonstrate commitment to intellectual contributions, and evidence of successful research & scholarly publications.
• Participate in HRM, FCB, and NAU service activities and engage in a program of intellectual or professional development activities to maintain faculty qualification in accordance with FCB
and AACSB guidelines.
