This position requires a candidate who:
Has connections and experience in community, workforce and economic development in Iowa and immediately surrounding communities
Is comfortable working with industry and business leaders
Sets goals with CEO for opportunities, connections, and projected new and expanded business, & works to meet goals
Has experience in business development and a successful track record in closing sales
Can open doors and start the discussion around how communities or the organizations/industries that serve them can succeed in today’s environment
Sees and can articulate the value in cohesive communications stemming from brand to community initiatives
Can make a compelling case for de Novo’s services
Can work collaboratively with both the CEO and the rest of the team to ensure that the projects we do embark on are meeting clients’ needs
Works collaboratively with CEO and account team to look for strategic partnerships, expand conversations, relationships and close business
Can write RFPs when needed, in collaboration with CEO, copywriting team, or potentially a freelance proposal writer
Willing to meet with communities and CBOs and record elements of those conversations in CRM until it’s time to bring in the wider team (in person and virtual mix)
Willing to travel to the Cedar Rapids office or other locations as needed for team meetings and project kick offs
Helps develop success stories of current and past projects in order to showcase our approach
Helps the CEO and team connect with new clients and communities and seek opportunities to participate as a subject matter expert
Has an “always be helping” mentality (versus “always be closing”)
LOCATION: Des Moines (remote) with frequent travel across the state and beyond. Travel to Cedar Rapids most weeks. Other locations will be considered based on experience and abilities.
