Lead Residential Counselor

Lead counselors assume a leadership role and take initiative to design and coordinate student activities as well as serve as mentors for junior staff. Lead counselors proactively monitor and supervise students, ensure safety and wellbeing of students, and facilitate activities. They create and execute high-quality programming for students, coordinate supplies and scheduling, and collaborate with coworkers and supervisors. Summer staff are student-focused and provide a welcoming environment for students and families by greeting and orienting on opening and closing days, eating meals with students, getting to know students individually, and providing customer service.
Strong candidates take initiative, demonstrate leadership, positivity, ability to build rapport with students, and creativity. Reports to Residential Life Leaders.

Job Requirements:
- Counselors are required to live on campus and are provided a furnished dorm room. Three meals a day and internet access.
- Complete staff training prior to the start of programs.
- Counselors must be able to work variable schedules including days, nights, and weekends, with most work occurring in the afternoons and evenings.

Residential Life Leader
North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics
Residential Life Leaders manage summer counselors, oversee programming and dorm life, communicate with families, and handle emergencies. Responsibilities include support of students, general hall operations, planning and leading programs, office management, building supervision, assigning halls and rooms in advance of the summer based on the summer programs schedule, creating weekly schedules, daily on-call duties, administering medicine/first aid outside of clinic hours, and discipline.
They will coordinate with Security to receive access passes and keys and Facilities to ensure a smooth transition between weeks of summer programming. Also serve as a front-line responder in emergency situations and take on the responsibility of “in loco parentis” by supervising student activities and their whereabouts.
Strong candidates demonstrate leadership, excellent communication, ability to work independently and in a team, superior organizational skills, and excellent judgment.

Job requirements:
- Residential Life Leaders are required to live on campus and are provided a furnished dorm room. Three meals a day and internet access.

- Work can begin in May, and preference will be given to those who can work at least one week prior to the start of programs.
- Residential Life Leaders must be able to work variable schedules including days, nights, and weekends, with most work occurring in the afternoons and evenings.

Program Manager
Muddy Sneakers
Muddy Sneakers is a North Carolina-born non-profit specializing in outdoor science education partnerships with public school fifth grades. Muddy Sneakers intertwines the NC science standards with outdoor, experiential learning incorporating peer connections, inquiry, art, games, reflection, physical activity, and exploration of nearby public lands. Muddy Sneakers also offers technology integrated virtual sessions, provides teachers with cross-curricular resources for the classroom and schoolyard, and offers on call teacher support. Close relationships with teachers and repeated experiences for students help Muddy Sneakers impact whole child growth beyond what's possible in traditional field trips or curricula.
We are currently hiring two Program Managers, one in Western NC and one in the Piedmont. Program Managers oversee all program deliverables in a geographic area while maintaining crucial relationships with classroom teachers and hiring, training, and supporting a team of full-time and part-time instructors.
