Role Description

This is a contract role for a Designated Interpreter. The Designated Interpreter will be responsible for providing on-site interpretation services in classroom and medical settings in Los Angeles, CA. The day-to-day tasks may include interpreting spoken language into sign language, assisting with technology for best accessibility, and facilitating effective communication between medical professionals, professors, peers and patients.


Fluency in sign language
Proficiency in spoken language interpretation
Knowledge of medical and healthcare terminology
Strong interpersonal skills
Ability to work on-site in Los Angeles, CA
Excellent communication skills
Prior experience as an interpreter in the healthcare industry is a plus
Certification in interpretation or related field is preferred

Staff Interpreter in our VRI department is responsible for providing ASL interpreting services to individuals who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in a variety of settings (healthcare, financial, business, and legal) and ensuring adherence to the Registry of Interpreter for the Deaf (RID) Professional Code of Conduct.

The Staff Interpreter must be adaptable, detail-oriented, and have the proven ability to handle confidential information appropriately.
