Postdoctoral research associate - cancer and PE methods
University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill
Randomized controlled trials have shown a substantial reduction in lung cancer mortality with annual lung cancer screening with low dose computed tomography, yet differences in the delivery of lung cancer screening in routine clinical practice calls into question whether the same benefits and harms can extend beyond the trial setting. Our NCI-funded project (R01CA277756) aims to evaluate the effectiveness of lung cancer screening in more generalizable clinical practice settings by integrating data from randomized controlled trials and multiple real-world data sources, with a focus on optimizing internal and external validity by applying novel causal inference methodologies.

Under the direction of Dr. Jennifer Lund (Associate Professor of Epidemiology; jennifer.lund@unc.edu) and Dr. Louise Henderson (Professor of Radiology), the selected applicant will support the generation and communication of scientific findings from the project. The duties of the Postdoctoral Research Associate will include attending team meetings, performing literature reviews, conducting statistical analyses, and preparing scientific abstracts and writing manuscripts. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will also help with supervising graduate students. Mentorship and career development opportunities will be emphasized; first authorship is expected, and the post-doc will be encouraged and supported to pursue their own grant funded research ideas.

Educational Requirements
• Recent doctoral degree in epidemiology or related field, with a preference for work in pharmacoepidemiology and causal inference.

Qualifications and Experience
• Prior experience analyzing health care data.
• Previous experience in causal inference, cancer outcomes research, or health services research.
• Strong programming skills in SAS or R.
• Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-motivated, attention to detail, and excellent organization skills.

Associate Director, Medical Device Epidemiology and Real-World Data Sciences
Johnson and Johnson
This position is an exciting opportunity to lead safety-focused real-world data studies to support the generation of clinical evidence for post-market clinical follow-up activities to meet regulatory requirements, patient safety, and post-market surveillance. The position requires good judgement in interpreting observational data to support regulatory decisions regarding patient safety.

Key Responsibilities:

You will actively partner with the Medical Safety, Medical Affairs, Scientific and Clinical Affairs, and R&D.
You will lead the design and conduct of epidemiologic studies using real world data to assess patient safety. A priority focus is on RWE studies to meet regulatory requirements, particularly European Union Medical Device Regulation (EU-MDR) requirements for proactive surveillance.
You will write study protocols and study reports, use a variety of analytical techniques applied to various databases, and strategize regarding research programs.
You will leverage epidemiology methods to address emerging safety signals and queries.
You will assist in developing new safety surveillance methods in collaboration with J&J teammates.

Postdoctoral Fellow in Pharmacoepidemiology
Henry M. Jackson Foundation (HJF)
HJF is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow in Pharmacoepidemiology who will be responsible for conducting mentored research, focusing primarily, but not exclusively, on deriving real-world evidence on the potential safety and effectiveness of repurposed medications to treat addiction, including alcohol use disorder.

The Fellow will join a multi-site, multidisciplinary research team, and be mentored by Dr Joshua Gray, PhD https://medschool.usuhs.edu/profile/joshua-gray-phd, and Dr Christopher Rentsch, PhD https://medicine.yale.edu/profile/christopher-rentsch/.

The Fellow will be encouraged to articulate research questions of clinical, population health, and mechanistic importance, design research projects, develop detailed analytic plans, perform analyses, interpret results, effectively communicate results orally and in writing, lead and submit results for peer-reviewed publication, and disseminate findings at national and international conferences.

The Fellow will have the opportunity to work with multiple sources of electronic health records and other routinely-collected data, including the Veterans Aging Cohort Study (VACS)-National, Million Veterans Program (MVP), All of Us, UK Biobank, and others. Our lab prioritizes mentorship and professional growth. There will be ample training opportunities including in grant writing and attendance of workshops or short courses to refine or extend skills.

This research includes collaborations with principal investigators from Yale School of Medicine, the University of Pennsylvania, and the NIAAA. The ideal candidate will have strong computational and analytic skills with some experience using electronic health record data and a passion for deriving high-quality real-world evidence, ideally in the field of addiction.

Postdoctoral Associate in Pharmacoepidemiology
Yale School of Medicine
The Veterans Aging Cohort Study (VACS) team is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate in Pharmacoepidemiology who will be responsible for conducting NIH- and FDA-funded mentored research, focusing primarily, but not exclusively, on deriving real-world evidence on the safety of prescription stimulants among patients with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and effectiveness of repurposed medications to treat alcohol use disorder in people with and without HIV. More details on the aims and objectives of these grants found below.

The Postdoctoral Associate will join a multi-site, multidisciplinary research team, and be mentored primarily by Dr Christopher Rentsch, PhD, with the opportunity to collaborate with the wider VACS team and external partners through its infrastructure of Cores and Workgroups to acquire experience and knowledge outside of their primarily responsibilities.

The Postdoctoral Associate will be encouraged to articulate research questions of clinical, population health, and mechanistic importance, design research projects, develop detailed analytic plans, perform analyses, interpret results, effectively communicate results orally and in writing, lead and submit results for peer-reviewed publication, and disseminate findings at national and international conferences.

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and collaborative, have strong epidemiological skills with some experience using complex, large-scale data (e.g., electronic health records) and a passion for deriving high-quality real-world evidence on medication safety/effectiveness, ideally in the field of addiction.
