Philanthropy Associate
Northwestern Medicine
The Philanthropy Associate performs a critical role on Northwestern Memorial Foundation’s (NMF) fundraising team. They are responsible for working with NMF managers, directors, vice presidents and other NMF team members to administer and coordinate activities and initiatives, completing projects as assigned.
NMF raises funds to support the health system’s strategic goals to deliver exceptional care and experience, advance and extend medical science and knowledge and enhance people, culture and resources through: (1) raising planned, principal and major gifts, (2) cultivating and stewarding donors, and (3) fostering a culture of philanthropy at NMHC.
Responsibilities:
* Lead the strategy, fundraising, marketing, communication and execution for a portfolio of fundraising and/or donor relations events to support philanthropic priorities.
* Cultivate, solicit and steward a portfolio of current and prospective corporate and individual donors.
* Oversee event logistics including event timeline, mailing list, vendor selection, décor, design, production of collateral and volunteer needs and recruitment.
* Recruit, secure and manage event host and/or fundraising committee members including effectively communicating the roles and expectations, creating meeting agendas, securing meeting rooms, taking minutes, and sending post-meeting summaries.
* Track and report event metrics, post-event analyses and key performance indicators.
* Maintain event budgets in accordance with the strategic event team’s goals and objectives, while keeping the event fresh and exciting year after year. 
* Perform other duties as assigned.

Reports To: Walk For Alopecia Lead
CONTRACT POSITION: 20 hours per week, March through October
This is a home-based position. Candidates must live in and be able to travel in the Northern California Bay Area.
Overview
The Development Manager for the Northern California Bay Area is responsible for recruiting sponsors, developing and managing volunteer leaders, securing publicity, and recruiting teams and individuals to participate in the second annual Walk For Alopecia scheduled for Saturday, September 28, 2024, at Golden Gate Park. The manager will drive the event’s fundraising success and local community engagement efforts. The manager will use coaching skills to support individuals, families, community groups, corporate teams, and business leaders in reaching their fundraising goals.
Duties and Responsibilities
Fundraising
Solicit local companies for sponsorship supported by volunteers and their connections, build sponsorship proposals and secure sponsors
Drive fundraising success with all registered teams and participants
Steward all teams and individuals with follow up phone calls emails, thank you notes, connecting to important NAAF resources as needed
Volunteer Development
Support management and development of Leadership Ambassadors volunteer group to build community, recruit participants and teams and secure local sponsors
Meet with local support group leaders, dermatologists and others in the alopecia areata
Event Management
Plan recruitment and meet up events in the community and share about the walk
Organize and execute lunch & learns activities in local companies
Provide day-of assistance as assigned at the San Francisco Walk For Alopecia, September 28 at Golden Gate Park
Perform other duties related for the Northern California Bay Area Walk For Alopecia as requested or needed
Qualifications
Minimum of two years non-profit fundraising experience
