Certified Professional Medical Auditor - Consultant
LWCI The Certified Professional Medical Auditor Consultant is responsible for delivering appropriate, well-supported, and thoroughly documented coding and documentation decisions, whic... h may result in the identification of improper payments (overpayments and underpayments) on paid claims, or an opportunity to enhance revenue based on appropriate documentation. The Consultant will research and provide citations for medical necessity, documentation, coding, and billing determinations and will provide written substantiation for appeals, including options for improving compliance.
The ideal candidate must be comfortable in teaching and presenting in front of large and small groups of medical staff, including in front of professional associations. They will also be responsible for leading training for new providers, annual education to physicians, and other education programs in a remote environment, or in person, if necessary. In this role, the candidate must be highly motivated with a desire to continuously learn and grow, stay current with industry trends, and enjoy taking on new challenges. The ideal candidate should also have an understanding of OIG CIA’s, Fraud, Waste, and Abuse laws and other compliance programs.
Areas of consulting focus vary from project to project, but many client engagements focus on Outpatient professional fee services related to Primary Care, Urgent Care, Dermatology, OB/GYN, Internal Medicine, Hospitalist, Orthopedic, Emergency Services, Anesthesia, Pain, Clinical Lab, Radiology, Cardiovascular, Oncology, Psych, or other Outpatient services. Additionally, the Consultant may be assigned projects which focus on: payer contracting matters, various regulatory compliance issues, client operations, the financial impact of coding and billing issues, and revenue integrity analyses. Any Inpatient auditing experience (SNF, LTCH, IRF) is a plus
