THE ROLE

The Intern will be responsible for the following:

Industrial hygiene exposure assessments, data entry, analysis and report writing, including:
Sampling for chemical, biological, physical, and ergonomic hazards
Working with laboratories (shipping samples, sample consultation, results review and input)
Laboratory preparation of sample materials (calibrating, weighing, cassette preparation)
Communication of sampling results to area management and affected employees
Hazardous material risk assessment and management
Confined space hazard assessments
Health management program review, including updating and communicating policies and training packages
Auditing, Legal compliance and application of corporate standards
Working with area management and employees to mitigate at-risk situations
Involvement in health-related incident investigations

We are currently recruiting for an experienced a Roll-Off Driver to join our Kitimat, BC Waste Management team.

This position requires the successful candidate to relocate to Kitimat, BC area as the candidate would need to be within one hour of Kitimat. This position is eligible for relocation support amount.

Responsibilities:

Safely operate roll off cable truck and trailer in diverse weather and challenging work site environments;
Comply with all site and jurisdiction traffic safety legislation;
Inspect transport units and loads (pre trip and post trip) to ensure safe operations as required by jurisdiction, and or/ NSC standards;
Attend and participate in safety meetings;
Complete all required daily safety paperwork;
Ensure load is always properly secured and within legal load limits;
Completion and submission on a timely basis of all documentation as required. This includes logbooks, equipment inspection reports, time tickets, accompanying manifests, trip records, fuel, and credit card receipts (JSA’s and WSRA’s);
Abide by all company and customer specific safety procedures;
Ensure all safety policies and procedures are followed;
Abide by all Waste Services and customer plant-specific safety procedures;
Ensure all labels are completed in full including shipping name, generator name, approval number, TDG Class, UN number, Packing Group number, load number, etc.;
Inspect all waste material to ensure compliance with manifest, recycle docket and bill of lading descriptions;
Effectively communicate daily with Dispatch to maximize customer needs and efficiencies;
Complete minor preventative maintenance such as greasing, air filter checks, brake adjustments and settings.
