There will be water well drilling and testing programs (some will be flowing artesian!), as well as surficial geology characterization, infiltration testing and impact assessments. You will be responsible for collecting real world information, and then using that data to answer questions, reveal patterns and craft compelling reports that tell a clear story, often leading to an improved quality of life for the communities we serve. Ideally you would have a Bachelor’s or post-graduate degree in hydrogeology, earth science, environmental engineering or something similar. A good technical writer who is comfortable and confident outdoors, and overall a generally good human being are important qualities for us. Hydrogeology is detective work. The job entails using limited information to visualize what is happening under the surface where you can’t actually see what is going on. So curiosity, creativeness, and a drive to solve the mystery of an aquifer is key.
