Acute Care Full Time Speech-Language Pathologist

Under the leadership of the department director and/or assistant director, the staff speech/language therapist (SLP) is responsible for supporting the mission of the hospital by providing skilled speech and language therapy services to patients who have suffered from neurological disease, CVAs, head injuries, respiratory compromise, head and neck cancer and/or other medical complications. The SLP uses evidence-based diagnostics and treatment methods to improve quality of life in patients with cognitive-linguistic impairments, speech or motor disorders, receptive and expressive language disorders, voice disorders, swallowing disorders, and augmentative and alternative communication strategies. Assistant or Associate Professor, Research Speech-Language Pathologist
University Hospitals Cleveland / Case Western Reserve University
The ENT Institute (ENTI) at the University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center is looking for a full-time research-oriented SLP to join our interprofessional team. Applicant will split their time: ~40% clinical and 60% research and collaborate with the ENTI, Laryngology Division and Speech Therapy Services leadership to publish on outcomes and population health-based research in addition to self-directed research and educational projects.
The successful candidate is expected to develop an independent research program with potential for extramural funding and engage in collaborative research endeavors, working with three Laryngology partners and the entire SLP and ENTI workforce, including dedicated research support personnel. The position will also focus on collaboration with leadership to build a premier center for voice, airway, and swallowing care and research as well as evolve clinical pathways focused on value-based care for inpatients and outpatients including embedding research, collaboration with radiology, speech, neurology, trauma, ENT and other specialties.
The position will be nominated for either Assistant or Associate Professor at Case Western Reserve University.

Required Credentials, License and/or Certifications:
1. PhD, PhD candidate, or equivalent
2. ASHA Certificate of clinical competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP)
3. Board certification specialist in swallowing (BCS-S) - current or willing to obtain
4. Ability to obtain an OH Speech-Language Pathology license
