Postdoc position
University of Houston/Carnegie Mellon University
We seek two highly motivated postdoctoral researchers interested in large language models and software engineering. The postdoc will contribute to and help lead research projects related to the inspection and evaluation of large, neural models of code. One postdoctoral researcher will be supervised by Dr. Vincent Hellendoorn (at CMU) and one by Dr. Amin Alipour (at the University of Houston). Successful candidates will work in close collaboration with graduate students and other partner groups.

Qualifications:

* Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a closely related discipline;
* Strong background in machine learning or natural language processing;
* Strong background in deep learning frameworks (pytorch, tensorflow);
* Fluency in English and excellent written and oral communication skills

This is a one-year contract with the possibility of renewal up to 18 months. Applications will be considered as soon as submitted and the position can be filled immediately. The start date is in the first half of 2023 with the preference for applicants that can start in January 2023.

The research activities will focus on software quality and related aspects, in particular the successful candidate will develop techniques for formal specification and computer-aided verification of quality-related properties (including safety and performance among others), with applications to complex systems (including concurrent and distributed systems). Required expertise can span in the fields of formal methods and software engineering, e.g. formal software verification, software performance evaluation, formal software modelling and specification, engineering of autonomous systems.
