Tobacco Control Research Consultant
Vital Strategies
Vital Strategies launched a new platform to monitor and track tobacco marketing activities in a few priority countries. The collected data is turned into policy briefs and used as technical assistance tools for local governments. The Consultant will primarily support the collection, monitoring of new data, and evaluation of its use, as well as provide research and writing support for our expansion into Mexico.
Responsibilities
Work with an international research team to conduct data analysis that includes data cleaning, merging of data sets, univariate and multivariate data analysis and some writing based on analysis. Working with support and under direction, curate the social media content used within the TERM Mexico project.
Conceptualize and prepare graphs and spreadsheets to interpret and visualize data.
Assist with technical writing of monthly situation reports and briefs for sharing with policymakers, partners and stakeholders.
Perform literature reviews and summarize project findings.
Support the team in Mexico to implement and disseminate findings, when needed.
Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Work Experience
• Graduate or undergraduate student pursuing a degree in public health, or the social sciences, such as social psychology, public policy, political science, economics or related field
Skills and Knowledge
• Fluent in Spanish (LATAM)
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office programs, and sound knowledge of statistical packages like SPSS/STATA/R
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to successfully manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
• Capacity to work independently and collaboratively in an international team environment with solid interpersonal and communication skills

The State Government Relations Director is responsible for serving as
the primary representative of the AHA to the assigned state legislature and
relevant state agencies to generate awareness and support for the AHA’s
public policy agenda. Strategically coordinate and oversee efforts to further
the state public policy priorities of the American Heart Association (AHA).
Responsible for working with AHA staff, volunteers, coalitions, and partner
organizations to build support for AHA policy issues and to integrate
advocacy messaging into relevant AHA programs and events.
