Reporting to the Route Analyst Supervisor, the Route Analyst finds and communicates the optimum shipping route (safest, most time-efficient or fuel-efficient route) in order to protect the safety of the vessel, cargo and crew. The Route Analyst is able to research, assess and select the optimum shipping route for every ocean basin using a variety of tools and software programs to determine the optimum route, communicate it and respond to inquiries for climatologic and other information during the route from ship captains, companies/clients and sales office. The Route Analyst also analyzes and provides route comparisons and effectively communicates route selection.

End of Voyage Analyst

Reporting to the EOV Supervisor, the Introductory EOV Analyst - Level 1 processes simple client messages and prepares simple voyage reports. The voyage report is prepared taking into account the weather, sea conditions and ocean currents encountered while en route. Performance is then measured basis the signed Charter Party agreement. This position has growth opportunity up to EOV level 4.

Job Responsibilities:

-Help download and gather different types of historical weather records.

-Perform a detailed, site-specific analysis of Doppler radar, surface observations and other records

-Help lead phone conferences with clients to discuss our findings.

-Prepare detailed expert reports and affidavits

-Provide testimony at depositions and trials

-Help create and develop new graphics and data products using meteorological data and programs

Minimum Requirements to be Considered:

-B.S. or M.S. in Meteorology (a Certified Consulting Meteorologist designation is a plus)

-Must be very knowledgeable in decoding and interpreting surface observations, METAR’s and other types of meteorological data

-Must have a strong understanding of ASOS observations, winter storms, thunderstorms, hurricanes and other mesoscale processes

-Must be very proficient with GR Analyst and have strong background with Doppler radar and Dual Pol

-Excellent Report-Writing and Communication Skills is a must

-Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel is required.

-Experience with Coding, Linux/Unix, NCL, NetCDF, Python, GRIB2 is a plus.

Marine Synoptic Meteorologist

(WRI), a rapidly growing ship routing company that provides optimal routing, weather forecasts, and meteorological consulting for cargo vessels and yachts worldwide, is searching for high quality individuals with strong communication and superior forecasting skills. Computer Experience and Programming also a high asset.

B.S. in Meteorology is required. Knowledge or experience in tropical meteorology and/or wind, sea swell forecasting is highly desirable, but we are willing to train the right individual. Applicant must possess excellent communication skills and be motivated self-starter along with knowledge of world geography and typical office computer software. Some desired requirements are list below.

Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Atmospheric Science/Meteorology

Strong writing and verbal skills (able to succinctly describe synoptic weather patterns)

Helpful courses: oceanography, climatology, geography, statistics

Strong desire to work daily in meso-scale forecasting

Strong interest in mid and long range forecasting and weather patterns

Familiar with observation and forecast data including: metars, various model data, ASCAT

Familiar with interpreting satellite data for various features including: tropical storm development, frontogenesis, low development, cold air surges, and more

Some marine (boating/sailing) experience/knowledge helpful

Strong desire (and willingness) to be a part of a team effort

Previous experience with ship routing / post voyage analysis also highly desired

Weather Technician

Reporting to the CS Management, the Weather Technician - Level 1 is responsible for supporting the weather data products used by the company's proprietary software such as BonVoyage System (BVS), performing global frontal analysis and providing customer support for BVS software.

The Weather Technician - Level 1, will ensure all incoming and outgoing data and products are delivered to their proper locations on time, and is expected to interface directly with development, IT, management, sales staff and customers when troubleshooting and correcting data processing issues. The incumbent works rotating shifts.

All Weather Technician are expected to identify ways the team can work together better from both an operational and overall business perspective. Each team member is expected to fully participate in meetings and projects and to help each othet meet the productivity standards in place.
