St. Lawrence University A full time, tenure-track position in Psychology at the Assistant Professor level is available beginning in the fall semester of 2025 at St. Lawrence University. We seek an indivi... dual with background and specialization in Clinical and/or Counseling Psychology. The successful candidate will teach Abnormal Psychology and courses in their area of expertise; they may also teach other courses such as Introductory Psychology. The teaching load is three courses per semester.
Sponsorship of undergraduate research projects is expected; opportunities for course release may be earned through this mentorship. Interested candidates may be able to teach in the university’s First Year Program, our residential living/learning program (https://www.stlawu.edu/offices/first-year-program ). Additionally, numerous other opportunities exist to mentor undergraduates, both within and outside the department, including working with students in the CSTEP and McNair Scholars programs. Approximately 65-85 students choose to declare a psychology major each year. We also co-sponsor a Neuroscience Major with our Biology Department.

Applicants should have their Ph.D. in clinical and/or counseling psychology or a related field by August 15, 2025, but ABD candidates may be considered. A candidate with a PhD is preferred, but we will consider candidates with an EDD or PsyD who meet the needs of our students. Applicants should demonstrate excellence in teaching and scholarship and indicate strong commitment to undergraduate education at a liberal arts college. We are particularly interested in an individual who has a strong commitment to the diversity of the academic community and can demonstrate this commitment through their teaching, research, and/or service.

Emphasis on adult mental health, gerontology, or rural mental health is desirable. Primary responsibilities include teaching graduate courses in our APA Accredited, contingency-status PsyD program in Clinical psychology. Supervising graduate student research and providing clinical supervision is also required. Candidates may also have some involvement in our undergraduate program as well. The faculty position can have a multiyear initial appointment. The appointment is renewable upon completion of successful performance reviews.
The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. or PsyD in Clinical Psychology from an APA accredited program with training and commitment to the evidence based practice of psychology. Successful candidates will also be dedicated to teaching excellence and have prior university-level teaching experience and experience with mentoring of student clinical work. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are also desired. Successful candidates will embrace the program’s commitment to recruit, retain, and mentor students from a wide range of underrepresented groups and diverse backgrounds. Candidates should be licensed or license eligible (pending state specific requirements) as a psychologist in the State of Oklahoma.
