The County of Surry is accepting applications for a full-time Park Supervisor to work in the Surry County Parks and Recreation department. An employee in this class performs general maintenance of Fisher River Park and other County-owned properties. The position requires the ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the general public. Must present a professional image to the public in appearance and conduct. Work is performed under the direction of the Superintendent of Parks and Operations and Parks and Recreation Director.
Duties include: The duties will include general maintenance of the Fisher River Park property and other sites such as river accesses and trails, including, but not limited to: opening and closing the park facility; maintenance of park shelters and areas at other sites, turf, and playground areas; inspections and maintenance of the grounds and athletic fields; custodial/cleaning responsibilities including restrooms and trash removal. Supervision and scheduling of part-time employees. Equipment operation (tractors, zero-turn mowers, skid steer, utility vehicles). Light equipment operations (blowers, weed eaters, hand tools). Inventory of supplies and materials related to operations. Building maintenance and construction. Maintenance of equipment. Mows lawns, trims weeds, and rakes leaves as assigned. Picks up and removes trash prior to mowing a designated area. Trims bushes, shrubs, and hedges. Responsible for safety program and safety data sheets for department. Prepares soil and plants flowers, bushes, hedges, or shrubs. Plants trees and prunes them when necessary. Cuts and removes trees as needed. Applies fertilizer, pesticides, and herbicides as directed. Checks reservation software and prints reservation permits daily. Inspects playgrounds weekly and equipment.

Scope: The Deputy Campaign Director for Military Outdoors will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to connect military and veterans communities with nature and facilitate their participation in working to protect our environment. The Deputy Campaign Director works in collaboration and partnership with Sierra Club’s multi-disciplinary teams and is responsible for the management, planning, coordination, and implementation of, as well as securing financial resources for the campaign.
