MINFLUX-Postdoctoral Research Associate
Scripps Research
Hi! I recently received five years of funding (R01) for a postdoc to do some very cutting-edge research using the brand new MINFLUX light microscope at Scripps Research. This is a recent Nobel Prize winning technology that enables 1-3 nm spatial resolution using fluorescent light! It also offers sub-millisecond single molecule tracking in live cells.

Scripps currently has the ONLY scope available in the US! This makes almost anything done publishable since there has been very little biology completed at these resolutions in live systems. No other institute in the US currently has access to this technology.

We will study Natural Killer cell immune synapse structure in the context of HIV infection, particularly emphasizing mechanisms of ADCC activity. I am currently a Senior Staff Scientist in Andrew Ward’s lab, who will house the postdoc until I start my own faculty position (hoping in the greater San Diego Mesa area/Sorrento Valley area). This is a perfect chance to complement cryo-EM experience with expertise in super-resolution light microscopy, setting you up to be very valuable in the job market.

I am working on posting an official ad, but I wanted to give participants an early opportunity. A PhD is required but I can also leave the job open until the summer. Some experience with fluorescent microscopy is also highly desirable but not required.

If interested, please email me at cmurin@scripps.edu with your CV and we can set up a Zoom to chat more about the project and position. Also, referrals are most welcome!

Postdoctoral Research Associate
UC San Diego
POSTDOC POSITION DESCRIPTION
Applications are invited for a postdoctoral fellowship in The Skaggs School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences (SSPPS) in the Division of Health Sciences at UC San Diego.
SSPPS is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body. The school is ranked among leading pharmacy schools in its research endeavors and grant funding. SSPPS is based at the world-renowned La Jolla campus of UC San Diego with year-round access to both winter and summer recreational activities. UC San Diego Health System is the only academic medical center in San Diego providing leading-edge patient care, biomedical research, education and community service through two hospital locations and a network of outpatient facilities. SSPPS is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the academic, staff, and student body.
The Chang laboratory is located at SSPPS and has a focus on molecular structural biology using x-ray crystallography and now cryo-electron microscopy of several targets, including membrane proteins (transporters, channels, and receptors) and large molecular complexes. Understanding the mechanism of these proteins and their interactions will provide a detailed structural framework to understand their function(s).
Qualifications: This postdoctoral position will have emphasis on protein expression, purification, and molecular structure determination. Ideal candidates will have strong experience and expertise in protein expression systems (HEK, Sf9, Pichia pastoris, and bacteria), protein purification (affinity, ion exchange, size exclusion), and both of the aforementioned structural determination techniques (cryo-EM required).
Salary - Salary will be commensurate with qualification and experience.
Appointment Length/Period – up to five years with possibility for extension.
Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. Applicants should submit a cover letter,
