The Global Ocean Observing System (GOOS) is a collaborative system implemented through observing networks, regional alliances and national activities, aimed at delivering data and information for climate, operational ocean services, and ocean health. The Intergovernmental Oceanographic , Commission (IOC) of UNESCO is the lead agency for GOOS, and we seek a scientific officer with expert and project management experience to contribute to GOOS.
As Programme Specialist, you will join the IOC/UNESCO secretariat operating under the guidance from its 150 Member States and from the ocean observing scientific community. You will manage, advise and report on programme design, guidelines, resources and progress. You will advocate for organizational involvement and participation in ocean observation and services activities and fundraise for projects, supporting GOOS under supervision of the Head of Ocean Observing and Services Section of the IOC.
This is a unique opportunity for a motivated and experienced individual who wishes to further develop their career in programme management related to ocean sciences and regional coordination.

Technical Officer

The CBF seeks a Technical Officer with a proven record of success in addressing climate change and conservation challenges in order to provide the technical support to effectively implement the strategic agenda of the EbA Facility. The Technical Officer will work closely with the CBF Secretariat team and report to the EbA Program Manager, in providing this technical support.

The Technical Officer will enter into a full-time consultant contract agreement with the CBF. The position will be contracted initially for one year and can be renewed, provided the incumbent continues to meet and/or exceed the objectives set and tasks agreed upon. The CBF seeks a Program Officer (PO) with a proven record of success in addressing the circular economy, included but not limited to marine litter and waste management in order to provide the program support to effectively implement the strategic agenda of the ACE Facility.

The Program Officer will work closely with, and report to, the ACE Program Manager (PM), in providing this program support. The Program Officer (PO) will enter into a full-time consultant contract agreement with the CBF. Operations Administrator

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Operations Administrator carries out administrative and operations functions activities in support of the TNC’s conservations efforts in the Northern Caribbean Program (The Bahamas and Turks and Caicos Islands), supporting approximately ten staff of the program and other organizational staff, as needed. They are responsible for financial administrative tasks, including processing bill payments,
various forms, preparing reports, monitoring administrative spending, serving as liaison with local business compliance organizations, and working closely via videoconference and email with other finance and operations staff located in the Caribbean region and the United States. They serve as liaison between staff and the Human Resources and Technology and Information Systems Departments of TNC and must be comfortable with technology and working in a dynamic virtual environment. They are responsible for scheduling and coordinating logistics for special events and/or meetings, purchasing, central filing, collecting mail, facilities management, telecommunications, and receiving
office visitors. They may assist with the recruitment and onboarding of staff or volunteers. They use available systems (primarily, Microsoft Excel) and resources to maintain, track and research data, and produce and review reports, including maintaining tracking of contracts, payments to vendors and other similar items.

CORAL Research Scientist position
Perry Institute for Marine Science
We are seeking a post-graduate scientist (master’s or higher) with experience in coral ecology and restoration. The ideal candidate would also be an experienced SCUBA diver, preferably a Dive Master (or working towards this level), capable of leading field-based coral research and restoration, collecting and analyzing data, and writing reports, scientific manuscripts, and proposals.

This position is responsible for carrying out day-to-day activities and research priorities including fieldwork planning and operations, data collection and analysis, and report writing for the coral research, conservation, and restoration programs in The Bahamas. The position reports to and supports the Director of the coral program and PIMS Executive Director.

This position is located in Nassau, The Bahamas. Underwater scientific diving work with SCUBA and work on boats is required. National travel will be required, and international travel may be required occasionally.

The position reports to the PIMS Executive Director.
