The Violence Prevention Coordinator (VPC) is responsible for coordinating MUSC / MUSC Health’s community-level response to violence. The VPC focuses on comprehensive violence prevention efforts, including establishing and maintaining collaborations with key community partners. The VPC coordinates MUSC / MUSC Health’s internal community violence prevention efforts with community outreach, with an initial focus on convening a violence prevention task force. Violence Prevention Coodinator
City of Greensboro
The Violence Prevention Coordinator is responsible for will working with internal and external stakeholders to develop a violence prevention plan for the City of Greensboro. The Violence Prevention Coordinator will work with group violence interruption groups throughout the city to develop action plans to address violence. These plans will be centered on encouraging neighborhood participation and engagement in violent crime reduction.
The Violence Prevention Coordinator will connect with local law enforcement, probation, group violence interrupters, and other community partners to help identify high-risk offenders. They will connect those individuals with community resources. The Violence Prevention Coordinator will provide education to the community on violence prevention and safety strategies.
This position will focus and coordinate outside agency efforts to break the cycle of violence and retaliation using the proven models of hospital-based violence intervention (coordinating wraparound services for gun violence victims) and focused deterrence (identifying those at high risk for gun violence, connecting them with services to help them change their behavior, and letting them know that if violence continues, they face “swift and certain” consequences in the criminal justice system).
This position will work with internal and external stakeholders and will develop connections with a network of outside agencies and the criminal justice system, including prosecutors, courts, jails, and probation.
