The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine Department of Psyc... hiatry is seeking fellowship applicants for our Psychiatry Clinician Educator Fellowship.
The mission of the fellowship is for participants to develop the knowledge, attitudes, and skills required to become effective, productive, and successful psychiatry clinician educators. The program takes place over one academic year at the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland.
Curriculum: Fellows participate in multiple courses offered by the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine Office of Faculty Development, including the Longitudinal Program in Curriculum Development, the Longitudinal Program in Teaching Skills, and the Foundations of Educational Scholarship course, as well as the Association for Academic Psychiatry Master Educator Course, pending availability.
Opportunities: Fellows will meet regularly with the fellowship director and additional mentors to discuss their career goals and ongoing educational projects. Fellows will have regular opportunities for teaching psychiatry trainees and will receive feedback on their teaching skills. For the duration of their fellowship, fellows will participate as members-in-training in the Johns Hopkins Bayview Psychiatry Academy of Clinician Educators.
Fellows will also spend 50% of their time doing clinical work, with clinical area to be determined based on fellows’ interests and availability within the department. Past fellows have worked in a variety of clinical settings, including inpatient attending, psychiatry consults, psychiatric emergency services, inpatient/day hospital/ED work in child psychiatry (if CAP-trained), and outpatient visits.

This program will help create a 24-hour coverage model at both hospitals to increase access to psychiatric consults and care throughout the hospitals and Emergency Departments. This position will provide a proactive consult for patients by placing psychiatrists in medical units throughout the two hospitals for early identification and intervention for behavioral disorders, substance abuse disorders, and psychiatric conditions.
