APMG seeks one experienced, Modified full time Pathologists' Assistant (30 hours per week), who is committed to hospital-based practice, has strong surgical pathology knowledge, is articulate, has exceptional communication skills, and will provide complete grossing services at one of our hospitals with 3 Pathologists and 1 Pathologists Assistant on staff in the South Bay area.
The duties include, but are not limited to: preparation, gross description and dissection of human tissue surgical specimens; preparation of human postmortem examinations; maintaining gross room instruments and equipment; supply ordering; assisting in preparation of inspections by regulatory agencies; and may perform various managerial and/or administrative duties, get medical records, may supervise other pathology employees or work with budgets, etc.
The lab holds CAP and CLIA certifications.
Applicants must have a BS with completion of a NACCLS accredited pathologist's assistant program and ASCP certification. 1 year experience in hospital setting required.

1. Responsible for a complex, clinical laboratory procedures which require experience and specialized training which would otherwise be performed by a physician. 3. Instructs residents, PA students, and medical school students, as they dissect gross specimens. 4. Monitors the specimens as they arrive in the gross room and assigns the dissection of the specimens to the residents according to their level of expertise and their workload. 5. Performs routine gross dissection as necessary in consultation with the attending physician.

Part-time transitioning to Full-time Pathologists’ Assistant
Novant Health We currently have a part-time Pathologists’ Assistant position that we are hoping to transition to a full-time.

University of Chicago Medicine In collaboration with the Pathologist, the Pathologists’ Assistant is responsible for the gross pathology description and sampling of biopsy and/or other selected complex surgical tissue specimens. The dissection sampling and description is performed in accordance with established procedures to aid the pathologist in establishing the diagnosis. The Pathologists’ Assistant also performs critical duties such as obtaining, dissecting, preparing and documenting tissue specimens to be used in the Human Tissue Resource Center (HTRC) and assisting with autopsies. The Pathologists’ Assistant works closely with Anatomic Pathology staff to ensure the rapid delivery and integrity of surgical specimens to be used in the HTRC. The Pathologists’ Assistant assists with resident teaching and may provide oversight of activities in support of basic laboratory operations.
