The Epidemiology Program has a national reputation for cancer research, community-engaged research and practice and for promoting health equity. The Epidemiology Program offers a BS degree, MPH degree, including a MD/MPH track, and a PhD degree and MD/PhD track. The Epidemiology Program and School of Public Health is home to the Nationally recognized Louisiana Tumor Registry and the Louisiana STD/HIV Program and is a collaborator with the Louisiana Cancer Research Center and the Comprehensive Alcohol HIV/AIDS Research Center.

Applicants should have experience in interdisciplinary environmental health research and teaching, and the potential to develop and maintain a highly recognized, externally funded, research portfolio on the impacts of climate change and health. Applicants with a focus on effects of chemical exposures, climate, air pollutants, and the built environment on health across the lifespan, or community health and disaster management are of particular interest. Applicants for the tenure track position must hold a doctorate degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, or public health, or a related field.

CEHDR is a multidisciplinary research department embedded within a safety-net health system that aims to enhance care delivery, advance health equity, and improve population health. Our investigators conduct pragmatic research to generate evidence that informs decisions and transforms healthcare practice, particularly for socioeconomically marginalized populations.
The Health System Researcher is responsible for developing a rigorous and impactful research program that improves healthcare quality and health outcomes for patients at JPS Health Network and beyond. We are particularly interested in applications from researchers with expertise or interest in evaluation of healthcare interventions, pharmacoepidemiology, predictive analytics, or implementation science. The Health System Researcher will have access to extensive electronic health records data generated from over 1 million patient encounters each year, which is a valuable resource for epidemiologic and health services research. This position offers extraordinary opportunities to collaborate with researchers, healthcare providers, operational teams, and health systems leaders.
