The Director will oversee a team charged with developing and implementing robust, sustainable, and equitable wellness programs. Such programs may include School Wellness Councils, Move-to-Improve, and CHAMPS after school sports. The Director will supervise staff to build and implement equitable programs related to physical activity, school nutrition, mental health, school environment, and community health. They will lead their team to address programmatic disparities to ensure all schools and districts can build a strong wellness community around offering student’s meaningful opportunities to practice the skills and internalize the messages they learn in Physical Education (PE) and Health Education classes. In this role, the Field Support Specialist will foster understanding of health and wellness programs, including but not limited to Move-to-Improve and CHAMPS, while serving as a liaison with external partners to ensure program fidelity. The role will collaborate with schools to enhance PE, Health Education, and wellness efforts by customizing support based on their unique needs as informed by progress data monitoring, and reporting on benchmarks and best practices. The Field Support Specialist will also implement strategies for data collection, assist in resource dissemination and actively participate in program planning and evaluation to strengthen OSWP’s impact across NYCPS.
