Information and Referral Specialist
Loudoun County Department of Family Services This position provides information on a myriad of programs and services in response to specific inquiries from residents and community-based organizations. Using an updated resource file and database, Information and Referral Specialists link individuals in need of information and/or services to appropriate resources.
Assessing an individual’s needs Identifying appropriate resources, exploring options, and assisting the individual in solving as appropriate Advocating on behalf of the individual, when necessary Maintaining accurate data records. The Information and Referral/Coordinated Entry team also works to objectively assess individuals experiencing housing instability and homelessness and connects them with the type and level of services and homeless services programs that best meet their needs. The Information & Referral Specialist represents the Information and Referral team at training, community meetings, events, and other venues as needed.
The successful candidate must have:
Exceptional oral and written communication skills, as well as organizational and time management skills Excellent listening skills and the ability to apply critical thinking to respond effectively to situations The ability to prioritize tasks and work with frequent interruptions Knowledge of human services systems, community resources, and referral processes Experience working in support of people with diverse educational, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds Ability to work with people of all backgrounds and sensitivity to the challenges of those experiencing homelessness and/or unstable housing situations with complex presentations, including chronic trauma Ability to interact constructively and work in harmony with diverse community interests High level of personal accountability for the quality and impact of work Ability to function well in a team environment as well as independently
United Way of Metro Chicago 211 Metro Chicago is seeking an innovative individual passionate about serving others to develop and lead a team in ensuring that Chicago’s 211 excels in the delivery of information and referral services to the 5M+ residents of Cook County. The Executive Director will be responsible for ensuring that 211 provides a positive experience for individuals, non-profit organizations and government agencies and is a valued partner to stakeholders throughout the county and state. This position reports to the Vice President, Initiatives & Public Programming (IPP).
Ability and willingness to travel regionally and within the City of Chicago & Cook County. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS At least 5 years of experience directing or managing a contact center in a rapidly changing environment, preference for contact center experience within the social services or government sectors and strong preference for experience with another 211 program. At least 3 years’ experience managing a high-performing team. Proven ability to design and implement effective programs. Ability to quickly learn and achieve proficiency with new technology systems and processes. Experience managing a $3M+ annual budget. Demonstrated complex project management experience. Deep understanding of the human services and social service delivery system is a plus.
