Assists departments in writing solicitations (RFP, ITP, RFQualifications, ITN, etc.) and exceptions (Piggybacks, Sole Sources, Exceptions, etc.). • Facilitates the solicitation process for the requesting department, which may include the following actions: makes final decision on selection of suppliers based on the experience of interviewing sales vendors, delivery dates and prices, visits to vendor facilities and ability to resolve problems of shortages and improper orders. • Maintains records of purchases and contracts to optimize opportunities for improved sources, distribution of business, prices and terms relative to changing economic conditions. • Works with the Warehouse Manager for the records of disposal of surplus inventories, scrap material and surplus or obsolete equipment. • Assists the Director/Assistant Director and all departments in developing and maintaining commodity standards for purchases. • Provides technical oversight and review to procurement staff and departments. • Performs any and all duties as assigned.
