Director of Exceptional Student Services
Pendergast Elementary School District SUMMARY: The Director of Exceptional Student Services will be responsible for providing leadership and supervision of all District special education programs and related service... s. Duties will include collaborating with the Chief Academic Officer in administering, planning, budgeting and coordinating all activities and programs pertaining to special education.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Master’s Degree in Special Education or related field • Valid Administrative Certification • Three years’ experience working in a special education environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Five or more years special education teaching experience • Experience supervising the administration of special education programs • Demonstrated proficiency with special education laws and Section 504 • Evidence of leadership in delivery of professional development in special education
1. Responsible for design, delivery and evaluation of special education programs that increase student growth and accomplishment of IEP goals 2. Responsible for the evaluation of assigned staff and the oversight of all special education staff 3. Responsible for aligning all special education programs and interventions with Arizona Academic Standards, best practices, and current textbook adoptions, AZ Learns and No Child Left Behind. 4. Works collaboratively with the Administrator for Curriculum and Accountability and the Administrator for Professional Development and Instruction to develop annual and multi-year calendars for professional development opportunities for special education staff and all instructional staff. 5. Works with administrative team to assure that all stakeholders are informed regarding special education programs across the district. 6. Develops the plan for utilizing instructional and adaptive technology in the support of special education programs across the district. 7. Conducts an annual program analysis and report on special education programs offered throughout the district.

Pendergast Elementary School District SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Chief Academic Officer, the Director of Teaching and Learning will oversee, manage and lead the development, selection, implementation, evaluat... ion and refinement of the District’s K-8 written, taught, and tested curriculum, and the district’s professional development plan to help schools in Pendergast District dramatically accelerate student academic achievement and become a district of first choice. S/he will ensure the organizational systems and academic programs are established to ensure all students are college and career ready. The Director of Curriculum and Innovation will oversee the development and implementation of instructional strategies throughout the district, as well as the design and implementation of assessments throughout the District. The Director of Curriculum and Innovation will coordinate the district special programs and academies. JOB GOAL: To oversee, evaluate, monitor, and improve all aspects of the curriculum, assessments, instruction, and student services to enhance student learning for all students. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Master’s Degree in Education or related field • Valid Principal or other valid Arizona Administrative Certificate • Commitment to the success of all students • Effective manager of people with the proven ability to build the capacity of others and develop leaders • Knowledgeable about change management and quickly able to establish credibility among team members including partners, peers, direct reports, and executive leadership • Ability to effectively work with and communicate to a diverse set of internal and external stakeholders for a variety of purposes, including cross-functional teams representing multiple District Office departments responsible for school effectiveness and student performance PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction • Five years’ experience as a successful school-based principal • Prior district administrative experience
