Responsibilities
-Follow health and safety standards.
-Maintain a clean workstation and production floor.
-Assemble products and parts by following production guidelines and specifications while meeting production targets. Production and assembly items include:
-Thermoforming and gluing of acrylic tanks,
-Soldering and assembly of electrical components,
-Running plumbing and installing pumps,
-Wiring LED lighting components.
-Assure product quality before and after packaging for shipment
-Participate in problem solving and improvement activities
-Operate and maintain machinery and production line equipment
-Quality assurance inspection and testing
-Report any issues to the supervisor on duty
-Maintaining production documentation
-Perform other tasks as assigned
Daily Requirements
-Perform manual tasks requiring dexterity and coordination
-Use of power and hand tools
-Lift and move 40lb items
-Work under minimum supervision in a team and independently
-Multitask and manage priorities
Applicant Attributes
-Experience working with plastics, wood, and metal products in a shop environment or construction industry
-Extensive knowledge of hand tools, power tools, saws, routers, and lathes
-Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
-Understanding of industrial environments, engineering and production processes

Northeastern University The Environmental Ecosystems Lab at Northeastern University, led by Dr. Ameet Pinto in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, is working on a Department of Energy ... grant titled "Process Optimization and Real-Time Control for Synergistic Microalgae Cultivation and Wastewater Treatment." The overarching goal of this work is to accelerate the commercialization of high productivity, mixed community microalgal treatment technologies for the synergistic treatment of wastewater and the production of biofuel feedstocks. We are seeking a Ph.D. student to support this work, specifically to adapt and train a low-cost monitoring system for real-time characterization of microbial community structure. A successful candidate will work closely with another Ph.D. student to improve the technology readiness level (TRL) of this platform for use in photobioreactor (PBR) and potentially open raceway ponds (ORPs). Candidates may have a prior research background in: computer vision and/or machine learning; optics; materials science; product development; systems biology; unicellular organism metabolism or fermentation; molecular biology; or bioinformatics. Candidates should also have an entrepreneurial spirit and excel in collaborative work environments. Ideally, a candidate would have interest in working in a startup environment immediately succeeding work on this project. Start date may be as early as January 2021 or as late as Summer/Fall 2021.
