As a member of a relatively small team, the Philanthropy Director will experience significant autonomy in setting direction for the organization’s fundraising strategy and representing the organization in the community.
The Philanthropy Director will set strategy, execute on campaigns, and oversee all aspects of Upaya’s fundraising, working closely with the CEO, and supported by a Senior Associate. This role works closely with the Upaya Marketing Manager.

... Upaya is looking to hire a Portfolio Manager to oversee Upaya’s portfolio of early-stage investments. Upaya seeks a highly detail-oriented, experienced impact investment professional to identify new opportunities aligned with Upaya’s mission, conduct due diligence, structure and present new deals to Upaya’s Investment Committee, and regularly monitor existing investees to ensure adherence to long-term social and financial milestones. The ideal candidate will be grounded in finance and investment expertise, but also bring a passion for working closely with entrepreneurs and provide hands-on support and strategic guidance as they grow their ventures. The candidate should bring strong analytical capabilities, project management, and relationship management skills to the role.
The Portfolio Manager will report to the India Country Director, and work closely with the Chief Impact Officer (CIO).
Job Responsibilities
Collaborate with all members of the India team to identify new investment opportunities, conduct due diligence, and structure deals for consideration by Upaya’s Board and Investment Committee Work closely with entrepreneurs to determine valuation, identify co-investors, and negotiate appropriately with all stakeholders to draft term sheets, investment agreements Design key indicators that best capture the financial and social performance of Upaya’s portfolio, build tools to gather the needed information in an effective manner, conduct real-time analysis, and assist with visualization and external reporting when needed Liaise with Upaya’s partners on a quarterly basis, monitor their progress against financial and operational milestones, and recommend metrics that capture and communicate overall enterprise health and stability Review financial statements of portfolio partners +

Base location: Mumbai, India
Travel requirement: for field visits, expected to be around 3 weeks in total
Contract duration: 4 months with possibility to extend to other projects on completion
The Context
India generates about 1 million tonnes of waste tyres annually, most of which end up in polluting uses. The focus of the project is to strengthen the sourcing value chain of a clean use company, creating significant social (improved livelihood for the collectors) and environmental impact (net carbon savings).
The role is for a 4 month long project, based in Mumbai, India. On completion of this project, there is a possibility for the person to join other exciting projects of YSB India or other offices of YSB globally.
Your Responsibilities
You will lead a project team that will interface with client and key stakeholders in end-of-life tyres value-chain. The project has a 4-month duration with concrete deliverables on new market development to source and optimise the existing supply-chain. You will be instrumental in growing the client’s business thus contributing significantly to the social and environmental impact created.
Your responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to the following:
Develop project plan and monitor progress as per the plan
Provide updates to the Steering Committees on important milestones, anticipate project risks, communicate those and explore mitigation strategies with client and the team
Discuss ideas and findings with mentors from YSB network for feedback
Identify geographies for market scan for the purpose of new market development
Manage field research and provide tools for customers’ needs assessment and understanding important stakeholders in tyre waste collection
