COMPENSATION AND DURATION
The successful candidate will ideally commit to a minimum term of 1 year, which will be
evaluated at the 6 month and 12 month marks, with possibility of extension

PRIMARY WORK FUNCTION
Support Aquatic Life Institute (ALI) in strategic communications and project launches
by pitching to key media outlets. ALI is seeking a freelance journalist/public relations
specialist who can develop compelling news pieces to pitch to major news outlets, based on
ALI’s newest projects and publications. This is a freelance position, though we are looking to
establish a long-lasting relationship with the right candidate with whom we can continue
working on future projects.

growing food sector worldwide, and that 2-3 trillion individuals per year are captured in wild
fisheries. Thus, we invest all of our time and energy into reducing the suffering of billions of

EXPECTED OUTCOMES
Increase ALI brand awareness and reputation
Influence market change and include ALI’s message in the public discourse
Secure increased media hits in major news outlets as well as trade publications

REQUIRED SKILLS
Excellent writing and grammar skills
Persuasive and passionate
Previous and well established relationships with global/US/EU media outlets
Fluent in English
Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and meet deadlines
Discretion

BONUS SKILLS
Knowledge of animal welfare in food systems, specifically aquatic animal welfare
SEO skills

This role acts as a strategic partner to WAM's Founder and President and will be tasked with overseeing the creation and execution of the organization's strategic objectives, providing financial leadership. creating organizational efficiencies and overseeing our remote and distributed team of 14 talented staff.

We are looking for an experienced people-manager who is passionate about how animal photojournalism can contribute to the end of animal suffering caused by humans. The Managing Director will be tasked with creating strategic focus for the organization and ensuring the team is well-resourced and able to fulfill our goals and commitments. The Managing Director will be a roll-up-their-sleeves type of leader prepared to do whatever needs to get done within our small but mighty nonprofit.
