Director of Strategy
Drew Charter School
School Overview: Charles R. Drew Charter School opened in 2000 as Atlanta’s first charter school and is an integral part of holistic neighborhood revitalization led by the East Lake Foundation. Drew Charter School serves over 1,600 children in Pre-K through 12th grade, growing ultimately to serve over 2,000 students from 'cradle -to-college' with two onsite early learning partners. Drew’s innovative academic model of Project-Based Learning (PBL), incorporating a Science Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) theme, has effectively closed both the achievement gaps and the opportunity gaps for children from diverse backgrounds.

Position Description: The Director of Strategy is responsible for shepherding the overall strategic direction of Drew in conjunction with the Head of School and the Board of Directors. S/he will support the Head of School in managing interactions with the Board, external stakeholders, and the school leadership team, in addition to leading strategic special projects and organization-wide communications.

Key Responsibilities:
-Lead organization-wide strategic planning; Author Drew’s strategic plan (every 3-5 years) with ongoing upkeep and progress monitoring
-Lead process for achieving consensus on strategic plan among Board members, staff, and broader stakeholders (e.g., within East Lake)
-Lead annual goal-setting and annual review of strategic plan
-Lead problem-solving and execution on high-priority strategic initiatives and special projects that span departments or positions
-Collaborate with Drew leaders to define issues, scope projects, define deliverables, and create work plans
-Support the Head of School in managing and engaging Board of Directors; Prepare Board packets and Head of School’s presentations to the Board; Work with Head of School and Board Chair to prepare for Board meetings
-Oversee the maintenance of efficient and accurate systems for all student enrollment, attendance, and academic records
-Support the Head of School in managing and engaging external stakeholders in the broader East Lake and Atlanta education ecosystem (excluding relationships managed by the Director of Strategic Partnerships).
-Manage Drew’s school-wide calendar of events across all grade levels
-Manage process to revise/renew the charter petition every five years (or as needed)
-Manage strategic, organization-wide communications to faculty, staff, students, parents, and stakeholders, in conjunction with and supported by East Lake Foundation
-Support the Head of School in driving the school leadership team’s efforts to steward strong organizational culture; Support the development of a data-driven culture/mentality throughout the school

Qualifications
-Bachelor's Degree required; Master’s degree preferred
-Five or more years of experience in a fast-paced, analytical professional setting (e.g., corporate strategy, management consulting, or similar role)
-Experience in K-12 setting preferred, but not required
-Relentless commitment to Drew’s mission and vision
-Experience collaboratively driving the development and execution of strategic initiatives across an organization
-Experience using data and analytics to inform/drive strategy and special projects
-Experience managing a Board of Directors
-Ability to conduct and facilitate long-term organizational strategic planning across contexts and functions
-Effectively manage multiple projects, prioritizing, and delegating tasks appropriately
-Advanced problem-solving and large-scale project management skills
-Ability to critically evaluate effectiveness of programs
-Superb relationship-building skills, including working with external partners and stakeholders
-Exemplary presentation skills; Ability to create and deliver executive-level presentations
