The UT Southwestern Medical Center has two openings in the near future. Our inpatient palliative care SW is relocating. We are also adding an outpatient social work position in the cancer center due to increased patient volume. Neither position is posted yet, but I would be happy to chat with potential applicants at conference.
Social Worker - GW Cancer Center
GW Medical Faculty Associates - Cancer Center
Identifies, assesses, and addresses the psychosocial needs of Cancer Center patients and their family members; advocates for better meeting of those needs with appropriate agencies or with further program development.
Provide individual, couple, and family therapy.  Clinical services include individual, couple, and family therapies with psychiatric outpatient assessments.
Interviews patients with psychiatric or complex psychosocial problems and their families, to assess their needs and encourage their use of health care facilities, to continue treatment or to obtain other appropriate services.
Provides in-depth psychosocial treatment and emotional supportive treatment (individual and family) for patients and family members to enhance understanding of conditions and treatment, relieve anxiety, and enable patients to resolve or ameliorate interpersonal environmental or other problems that may further undermine patients’ health, delay recovery or interfere with continuity of health care.
Consults with other members of the medical or psychiatric team at G.W. Medical Faculty Associates to facilitate diagnosis and plan programs of treatment geared to the patient’s medical needs as well as their personal, environmental and familial situations.
Collaborates with representatives of community services to enable patients to resolve non-medical problems and to facilitate referral of patients to other sources of assistance.  Assists patients in arranging for home palliative and hospice care.  Provides services by facilitating resources and processing applications for various programs, including but not limited to financial, social security benefits, and disability benefits.
Develops, implements and facilitates various psycho-educational support groups and programs for Cancer Center patients and/or their families.

Cancer Support Community Helpline Counselor

The Cancer Support Helpline (CSH) offers personalized, toll-free phone support to anyone impacted by cancer. Services include referral to local, regional, and national resources as well as emotional support, distress screening, and treatment decision-making. CSH Counselors are part-time employees who work remotely from their home or private office in typically 4-8 hour shifts using web-based technology provided by CSC. Our Counselors help fulfill the CSC mission that no one faces cancer alone.

Cancer Support Community Helpline Navigator

The Cancer Support Helpline (CSH) Navigator will lead a dynamic team of individuals who provide support and education to anyone impacted by cancer. The Navigator will have a key role in growing and delivering CSC’s personalized services for people impacted by a cancer diagnosis at high risk for distress and in need of comprehensive navigation for their cancer care. The Navigator will also respond to patient and caregiver inquiries; conduct needs assessments including distress screening, and offer navigation to CSC services/ programs; provide financial and insurance navigation, oncology treatment, care, and clinical trial navigation; decision support counseling; and referral to local, regional, and national resources. The Navigator will report to the Helpline Director and will manage a team of Helpline Counselors.

The Helpline Resource Specialist will assist callers seeking local, regional, and national resources relevant to empowering people impacted by a cancer diagnosis. The Resource Specialist is a part-time employee who will work remotely from their home or private office using web-based technology provided by CSC. Helpline Resource Specialists help fulfill CSC’s mission that no one faces cancer alone.

Director, Social Work Services
Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center
The Director, Social Work Services develops, manages, coordinates and administers the organization’s Social Work programs, functions and services. The Director, Social Work Services ensures compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC), Health Care Finance Administration (HCFA), the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and other regulatory agencies as they apply to the institute Social Work programs including development of policies and monitoring of standard practice.

Qualifications:
Applicants must have a Valid license and current registration as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in New York State. They must also have a Master’s degree in Social work from a Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) accredited facility and the equivalent of seven years of full-time experience in clinical medical Social Work, five years of which were in social work administration and department management including direct supervision of staff and programs and program development. The preferred candidate will have experience in a hospital-based setting, with crisis management, with ethics intervention, with clinical supervision, and with administrative supervision. They will also have knowledge of the case management process (discharge planning, etc.), experience with individual counseling, will have demonstrated ability to develop a strong network of community contacts, will have regulatory guidelines awareness, and experience with data management. They will have excellent communication skills, experience with conflict resolution, and good presentation skills.
