Assistant Manager (preliminary)

The borough will consider hiring an Assistant Manager later this year. As manager, I want to get the word out with the association as my experience with other open positions is that it is currently difficult to find qualified and interested candidates. I know that any member of APMM would be a great hire or would be an excellent resource in this search. I would be happy to discuss with anyone interested as it is likely that the new hire will take over the manager’s position when I retire.
As I note in the title this is preliminary as details and a full job description are incomplete and a specific timetable has not been determined.

Fire Director

The Fire Director is a professional fire service manager and is the designated Fire Official, Agency Director, and Chief of Department for the Centre Region Council of Governments (COG) Regional Fire Protection Program. The program protects residents and visitors of the Borough of State College and College, Ferguson, and Patton Townships, a portion of Benner Township, and the University Park Campus of the Pennsylvania State University. The Fire Director oversees fire suppression, rescue, and related services within the jurisdictions served by the Alpha Fire Company; HazMat response throughout the Centre Region and Centre County (as assigned); fire investigation throughout the Centre Region; and administration of the Centre Region Emergency Management Program. The Facilities Project Manager, in cooperation with the Agency Directors, is responsible for coordinating the maintenance and management of Centre Region Council of Governments (COG) facilities and systems utilizing a proactive approach to ensure all facilities are safe, efficient, and compliant with all applicable laws, regulations, and standards. The position requires both administrative and technical skills and knowledge related to building equipment and materials, energy conservation measures, and construction and renovation project administration. The employee shall have knowledge regarding capital and operating budget development and assessment and be familiar with fleet management concepts and programs. The employee will have a strong focus on fiscally and environmentally sustainable projects, as well as relationship and consensus building with agency directors and other COG staff, municipal officials, contractors, and vendors to reach solutions to capital planning, funding, and operational issues. Senior Transportation Planne

The Centre County Metropolitan Planning Organization (CCMPO) in State College is looking for a Senior Transportation Planner to provide regional transportation planning services in the Centre Region and Centre County. The successful candidate will assist with county-wide and subarea planning projects addressing complex transportation issues. The CCMPO is county-wide and is housed in the offices of the Centre Region Council of Governments. The area is known for its high quality of life and is home to the main campus of The Pennsylvania State University, and many cultural, and outdoor activities close by. The Senior Transportation Planner will be responsible for a variety of transportation planning duties and will focus on the county-wide bicycle and pedestrian planning projects. The position has a high degree of independence and works collaboratively in a multidisciplinary office with land use planners, a sustainability planner, and other professional staff. The positional also provides some support to the CCMPO committees, COG committees, and the COG General Forum. The job is expected to be advertised the week of June 6, 2022 and will be available on the employment tab on the Centre Region COG website at www.crcog.net and on the Pennsylvania Planning Association website at www.planningpa.org.
