Village of Summit The Village of Summit is seeking applications for a full-time Public works position. This position includes maintenance and repairs to public properties and other projects as assi... gned. Must be able to deal courteously with the public, work outdoors in varying weather conditions and available to work overtime as required. These tasks will include assisting with maintenance and repairs of the parks, streets, and public properties of the village. This includes but not limited to snowplowing, salting streets, mowing and sign repair, installing and maintaining water meters, flushing hydrants as well as other needed tasks under supervision and direction of the Director. This position requires on call availability during inclement weather or other emergency situations.
Residency required within 30-minute travel time.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED required.
Basic computer and mechanical experience desired.
Current driver’s license with a good driving record; CDL class B/C with air brake endorsement is required, snowplowing experience; ability to operate front-end loader and other equipment as well as multiple hand tools and experience in public works/park maintenance preferred.
Experience in sewer system operations, along with knowledge of lift stations, SCADA monitoring, confined space entry is preferred but not required.
Candidates are subject to a background investigation, physical exam, and drug screening including pre- employment screening.
Wage Range: $23 - $25 per hour (DOQ) with an attractive benefit package.

Work includes covering a large working area, which contains several operating units of the Water Filtration Plant during assigned rotating shifts. Employees normally work independently on the basis of general and specific instruction for the day. Work is reviewed by a supervisor who checks records and charts and makes daily inspections through the plant. Employees work under the general supervision of the Water Filtration Plant Operations Supervisor.
