Horizon High School Horizon High School educates teens in recovery from alcohol, drugs and mental health issues. We are looking for a high school teacher committed to education to join our team. The ... mission of Horizon High School is to provide a school that fosters emotional, social and academic growth for students who want to learn in an alcohol-free, drug-free environment. Students will actively assume responsibility to create their own safe and nourishing community.
TEACHING RESPONSIBILITIES: Support the school's mission, philosophies, values, goals, and policies toward students, parents/guardians and coworkers. Design and effectively deliver developmentally appropriate instruction, which reflects observations and goals of individual students. Establish a classroom culture of high expectations. Work with staff to frequently examine student data for ongoing refinement of instruction and assessment. Share best practices with other teacher and collaborate with them to improve instructional and assessment practices. Facilitate regular parent/guardian communications, home visits, and conferences to discuss student progress. Interact frequently and respectfully with students. We contract with Madison Metropolitan school district as well other nearby school districts, therefore there are responsibilities and expectations to meet those districts needs as well.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Credentials and qualifications of the ideal candidate: A Bachelor's degree and appropriate Professional Educator licensure. Five years experience in education settings is preferred, particularly in the alternative school setting. Strength of academic background, professional experience, teaching capacity, fit with organizational values. References will be considered during the selection process.
