Spinal Cord Injury Physiatrist

Providence St. Luke's Rehabilitation Medical Center invites a Physiatrist with Spinal Cord Injury Medicine subspecialty board certification, or eligibility with intention to certify, to join a well-established, CARF-accredited rehabilitation teaching hospital and physiatry clinic. This is a full-time position within a collegial group of 12 faculty physiatrists and 18 physiatry residents along with scores of other members of a comprehensive, multidisciplinary rehabilitation team. The physiatrist in this position will 1) lead delivery of world class spinal cord injury medical care in hospital and clinic settings, and 2) serve an essential role in physiatry resident and medical student education. Call is shared among attending physiatrists within the group, and you will be working with resident physicians who are in-house at the hospital 24/7 and who serve as the primary points of contact for hospital staff.

Mixed inpatient/outpatient clinical practice focused on serving patients with spinal cord injuries and associated diagnoses

Teaching physiatry residents and medical students is required

Board-certification in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation required

Subspecialty board-certification in Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) Medicine, or recent satisfactory completion of a SCI Medicine fellowship with eligibility to take the SCI Medicine certification exam required

Must be prepared to lead the growth of the Spinal Cord Injury Program at St. Luke's

Experience in spasticity management and musculoskeletal/neuromuscular ultrasound is preferred

Spinal Cord Injury Physician

SCI physician at the Kaiser Foundation Rehabilitation Center, a 52 bed acute rehabilitation unit in the San Francisco Bay Area. This unit receives acute traumatic and nontraumatic spinal cord injuries from the 19 Kaiser hospitals in Northern California. It is the only Kaiser acute rehab unit in Northern California.
Main responsibility is leading a CARF accredited inpatient spinal cord injury team. Your inpatient census will be 8 patients. You will also have 1-2 outpatients per day. There are opportunities to participate in regional spinal cord injury annual evaluation program and regional spina bifida clinic.

Diversity and Health Equity in Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation Postdoctoral Fellowship

The Centers for Spinal Cord Injury Research and Outcomes & Assessment Research at Kessler Foundation in collaboration with the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School is seeking a talented and motivated applicant for a Diversity and Health Equity in Rehabilitation Research Postdoctoral Fellowship.

This two-year funded fellowship will provide advanced training and research experience to prepare scientists for a career in rehabilitation research with a focus on issues of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in the rehabilitation of people with disabilities—especially those with spinal cord injury rehabilitation. This fellowship seeks to develop trainees from diverse backgrounds, including individuals from underrepresented groups, to enhance diversity among research scientists in the field of rehabilitation research. The successful candidate will work on ongoing multidisciplinary implementation, program evaluation and community-based disability projects investigating issues related to health equity, social determinants of health, and outcomes in persons with spinal cord injury and other medical rehabilitation populations. The successful applicant will also be expected to develop their own mentored research project. They will work on various aspects of research projects from inception (e.g., study formulation, grant writing, etc.) through dissemination (conference presentation and manuscript publication). Opportunities of collaborating with clinicians and scientists on existing or future research are also available. All fellows participate in an extensive training curriculum and didactic offerings. Multidisciplinary-mentored training opportunities are individually tailored to achieve specific goals considering each fellow’s prior background and interests.
