Pediatric Cardiac Sonographer (California/CHLA South Bay): no call/no weekends and ocean breezes.
Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) South Bay Clinic
We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic sonographer for this position primarily based in the Torrance Children’s Hospital Los Angeles South Bay Outreach clinic providing outpatient echos to pediatric patients with a range of congenital cardiac conditions including complex to straightforward disease. There is a predictable schedule Monday thru Friday 8am-4:30pm. There is no “on call” nights or weekend requirement for this position. The sonographer will work closely with the cardiology team including the physicians, nurse and medical assistant in the clinic. A great “team player” attitude is essential.
The clinic also provides fetal echos to pregnant patients. Fetal echo experience is a plus but not essential. However, the sonographer must be willing to be trained in fetal echo and become certified as a fetal sonographer.
When the cardiology clinic is closed (for example, due to physician vacation) or at the discretion of the manager, the sonographer will provide echo imaging services to inpatients and outpatients at the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles main hospital in Los Angeles with mileage compensation. Training for fetal echocardiography will also occur at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles main hospital.
The South Bay is a great place to live with all the perks of living in Southern California. The clinic is only 10 minutes from the beach. Must have pediatric experience/certification.

Learns and applies echocardiograph techniques in order to competently perform all commonly applied procedures according to set protocols established by cardiologists. Develops proficiency in performing these procedures. This role includes the orientation, monitoring, and ongoing training/development of the technical competence of staff, contributing feedback and on-going review of sonographers for hiring decisions and performance evaluations, informal oversight of technical operations including the trouble shooting of technical issues, and coordination of sonographer and trainee schedules and rotations for the lab to appropriately
perform studies. To perform high quality and complex exams on patients that range in age from neonates to adults including both inpatients and outpatients. To partner with the Medical Director and departmental leadership to achieve improvements in study quality in the lab.
