Responsibilities
Performs complete echocardiographic study integrating all patient data. Document completely and accurately patient data through computer system. Assess data reflective of the patient’s status and appropriately interpret information relative to the patient’s age-specific needs is required. Perform exams in an inpatient and outpatient setting. Availability for occasional on-call status, weekend and holiday coverage, and later shifts is mandatory. Must possess strong organizational skills and be able to function independently. Assists in the orientation and training of fellows, students, and visitors assigned to the Echocardiography Laboratory. Strong human relation and communication skills and consistently demonstrate sound judgment.

Candidates should preferably have completed an additional year of advanced imaging training and have experience with transesophageal and fetal echocardiograms, with the potential for opportunities in cross-sectional imaging for those with cross-sectional training. Professional responsibilities will include inpatient and outpatient cardiology services.
The Division of Pediatric Cardiology at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore is growing and consists of 10 pediatric cardiologists with specialist expertise in all subspecialty fields including: fetal cardiology, heart failure and transplant, pulmonary hypertension, cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology, cardiac intensive care, preventive cardiology, and adult congenital heart disease. The Division has an ACGME accredited pediatric cardiology fellowship program with four fellows and rotating residents. The Division has offices in the Bronx and Westchester and provides over 9,000 consultation and follow-up visits to children and 400 adult congenital heart disease visits per year in the region. All members of the Division have faculty appointments at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, a major biomedical and clinical research facility.

The major criterion for appointment as Clinician Educators is excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, teaching, administrative and/or scholarship appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill.
The successful applicant must have a medical degree (MD) or equivalent. Candidates should have clinical training in Pediatrics and Pediatric Cardiology (completed fellowship and be board eligible/certified). Advanced clinical training and/or prior experience in non-invasive cardiac imaging is required. They will have demonstrated outstanding clinical abilities in non-invasive cardiac imaging of pediatric and adult patients with congenital heart disease. They will serve as an attending physician in the Echocardiography Laboratory at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford (LPCHS). They will also provide fetal and postnatal echocardiography services at affiliated clinical sites in the San Francisco Bay Area, as the program has a strong outreach presence.
The Echocardiography Laboratory at LPCHS has twelve faculty members who together are responsible for the performance and interpretation of approximately 12,000 pediatric echocardiograms (transthoracic, transesophageal, and fetal) annually both on the Stanford campus and at affiliated clinical sites in the Bay Area.
Applications will be reviewed beginning January 2024 and accepted until the position is filled, with a goal start date of September 1st, 2024.

Interprets acquired data and creates preliminary reports according to departmental procedures and job standards. Completes job duties with general clinical supervision. Works alongside other sonographer staff in a collegial manner to facilitate the completion of scheduled or ordered echocardiographic exams. Novice skillset in providing all clinical modalities offered in the UCSF Echo Lab. Contributes to the team dynamic through communication, initiative, and productivity.
RDCS Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer, or RCS Registered Cardiac Sonographer, or RCCS Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer BLS- Basic Life Support Completion/graduate of an approved cardiac sonographer training program Flexibility in scheduling, ability to rotate shifts and coverage for weekends and holiday work at all UCSF Medical Center locations Minimum of one (1) year post-graduate experience performing adult cardiac echocardiograms at UCSF or in a similar healthcare setting Previous experience performing adult cardiac echocardiograms Current registry through ARDMS (RDCS) or CCI (RCS, RCCS, ACS) Excellent communication skills Attention to detail

Mayo Clinic -Performs routine and complex echocardiographic examinations integrating all imaging modalities necessary to obtain pertinent patient data. -Reviews patient medical history an... d supporting clinical information to ensure the appropriate imaging techniques will be utilized. -Functions independently with minimal supervision while using independent judgement to ensure that appropriate anatomical, pathological, and clinical conditions are accurately captured in the echocardiographic examination images. -Documents patient data and echo exam information utilizing the Echo Information Management System. -Creates a complete and accurate preliminary report to assist Physicians in diagnosis of the patient condition and evaluation of symptoms. -Collaborates with Advanced Cardiac Sonographers, Physicians, and other team members to assist in interpretation of echocardiographic findings. -Possesses the ability to handle emergency situations with the aptitude to identify and triage clinical findings for appropriate intervention. -Assists in the orientation and training of all levels of trainees assigned to the Echocardiography laboratory. -Expectations extend to include on-call practices, weekends, evenings, and holiday coverage as needed.
