About You
The Associate Professor will provide leadership and foster excellence in teaching and research efforts of the School, within the University, and with the community, professional, commercial and industrial sectors. More specifically, the Associate Professor is responsible for providing original, innovative and distinguished contributions to the School's programs for maintaining and advancing their scholarly, research and/or professional capabilities relevant to this discipline at a national and international level.
The Associate Professor will also teach and make a significant contribution to teaching and learning in the literacy discipline with the aim of improving learning outcomes for students. Particular expertise in early years and/or Primary Literacy education is required. Expertise in literacy learning and in teacher learning for literacy improvement across the early years/primary years is particularly desirable. Knowledge of the Australian curriculum context and experience in redesigning course and programs in light of recent literacy teacher education policy reforms is important.
The Associate Professor will make a significant contribution to the planning and strategic direction of the School, taking on academic leadership roles involving participation in various committees within the School, College and University and external to the University, as appropriate.

Demonstrated ability to direct an award program/s and implement program improvements and innovative approaches to student-centred learning and quality improvement programs.
Nationally recognised research track record including substantial record of research output

The Department of Education is seeking a suitably qualified, experienced and innovative academic who will contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, with a specific focus on either mathematics or science. Underpinning all research, teaching and knowledge is a commitment in the Department to social justice and the desire to make a positive difference in the lives of individuals and groups in the communities we serve. This not only shapes the ethos in the Department, but also our engagement with stakeholders including but not limited to students and our professional partners.
As the Senior Lecturer, Education, your teaching will be delivered via a number of blended methods including lectures, tutorials and seminars. You will lead curriculum design and the development of blended learning materials and assessment, including accreditation activities associated with external agencies and organisations.
In this role you will contribute to the research profile of the department by participating in, and leading a defined field of research within Education. The Senior Lecturer will be actively involved in the supervision of postgraduate research students.
