Coastal Ecology Internship

As such, interns will develop their skills in data collection and gain valuable field experience.
The position will be a full-time 6-month internship with a 3-month probationary period, and the potential for extensions based on performance. Preferred start date is June 2, 2025, but can be flexible for the right candidate. Salary is $16.50/hr.

Qualifications:

• Ability to perform physically demanding fieldwork in potentially challenging conditions
• U.S. citizenship or residency
Preferred Qualifications (one or more of):
• Experience in project management
• Proficiency in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software and applications
• Experience with ecological data analysis in R
• Experience operating small vessels
• Experience with technical writing

The successful candidate will have flexibility to design and execute their own research, will assist with ongoing research efforts throughout the Gulf of Mexico, and will have extensive professional development and networking opportunities.
Applicants should have experience with a range of statistical methods and spatial analysis tools, experience working on small vessels and in shallow coastal ecosystems, strong writing and presentation skills, and interest in exploring and restoring seagrass ecosystems.
