The Contra Costa County Women, Infants, and Children (WIC)Program has an immediate job opening for a full-time project public health nutritionist to perform duties at four countywide WIC sites. The Public Health Division operates a large WIC Program in Contra Costa County. WIC is a national supplemental nutrition education program that promotes healthy eating and active living. WIC participants receive nutrition advice, help with breastfeeding, referrals to community services, and electronic benefits to purchase healthy foods. WIC staff enjoy the satisfaction of helping participants experience healthier pregnancies and raise healthier children. Nutritionists in WIC work with participants individually and in groups, serving primarily higher-risk participants. Nutritionists coach staff, participate in program assessment and planning, develop education campaigns, and serve as site leads in the absence of senior nutritionists and supervisors. They also serve in lead roles for employee wellness, nutrition education development, breastfeeding services, quality assurance, and other roles. In addition to civil service pay, benefits, and retirement plans, employment at WIC also provides a great opportunity for career development and advancement. Continuing education is provided as well as training in participant centered education, quality program delivery, and developing lead and supervisory skills. Experience as a WIC nutritionist will qualify employees for supervisory and program-planning positions in the county.
Breastfeeding Peer Counselor Program Coordinator

With support from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), NACCHO is pleased to offer a funding opportunity for technical assistance consultants to support current project grantees implementing the Continuity of Care: A Blueprint for Communities. Approximately 2 awards up to $10,000 each are available.
This RFP is open to any individuals and organizations with subject matter expertise in the proposed content area (Blueprint recommendation 2- Breastfeeding Policies, Systems and Environmental Changes and 3) Transfer of Care and Care Accountability) and with proven experience working with lactation support approaches that centers on historically oppressed communities.

With support from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s Division of Nutrition, Physical Activity, and Obesity (DNPAO), NACCHO is pleased to offer a funding opportunity for up to three consultants to develop culturally responsive nutrition resources for other professionals and families of infant and toddler based on the chapter 2 (Infant and Toddler Nutrition) of the 2020-2025 Dietary Guidelines for Americans . The goal for this project is increase the availability of high-quality, evidence-based culturally responsive infant and toddler nutrition resources for African American, Latinx and Asian families. Three awards, with funding up to $10,000 each, are available. The project period will run from the date of contract execution to July 31, 2022. Applications must be submitted no later than February 1, 2022. All necessary information regarding the project and application process may be found in the Request for Proposals (RFP). Applicants may pose questions to NACCHO at any point during the application process by emailing breastfeeding@naccho.org.
